There were two puzzling decisions at Fir Park today as Celtic beat Motherwell 3-1 to maintain their 10 point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership table.
Early in the second half the squiggly VAR lines were out to rule Adam Idah as offside to spare Tom Sparrow having an own goal on his record, putting Celtic 3-1 ahead with half an hour left to play.
It took Celtic until stoppage time for the third goal to arrive, until Jota’s 94th minute effort Motherwell were only one slip away from drawing level.
After Daizen Maeda’s first minute goal Motherwell drew level in the 23rd minute through Luke Armstrong.
Something happened in the build up to the goal that took Cameron Carter-Vickers out of contention, Sky Sports never quite captured it with side on angles. That seemed good enough for John Beaton but one fan-cam behind the goal captured the two handed push on the Celtic defender.
4 minutes 44 seconds for Armstrong’s push on CCV
With no Sky Sports camera behind the goals at Fir Park it is likely that Beaton was restricted to the side-on views shown on television. Even so a close up look would confirm the use of two hands in Carter-Vickers back.
Last March following a 2-0 defeat away to Hearts Brendan Rodgers described Beaton as incompetent.
Will Celtic emerge from the transfer window with a stronger squad than on January 1?
Yes, we have an experienced CEO that delivers results

No, we never learn and repeat previous mistakes

Mr beaton displays his video vision again wake up Celtic var video advantage ranger’s
Can you imagine those decisions today in our game happening in the sevco game.
The klan klub boardcwould be going ape shit, people on VAR duty would be barred and refs and linesmen demoted on the spot.
Let’s see if there is as much coverage in the written press and TV as well as radio stations like it was previously with sevco.
Another wee special guest star appearance again by the 5 Way Agreement I would imagine,if anyone even thinks about rocking the boat and challenging any decisions.
That auld favourite again today,Sam Dingle using his Etch-a-Sketch to call a decision.
Typical SFA with a Home Bagains nickel&dime twobob version of VAR.
Any signs yet of Wullie the bawbag Collum apologising to Celtic for the HONEST mistakes made CHEATON BEATON,or any anyone is being demoted.
No – And there won’t fuckin well be either Joker…
As you say… imagine if it was Sevco –
They’d be screaming from the rooftops about it even in victory as they did v Dundee United last week…
Actually I ADMIRE their ‘peepil’ for the way they stick up for them in situations like that even when they’re wrong to do so they still do it…
Unlike our lot whose bloody within every sinew of their fibre being is a fuckin COWARDLY yellow !
*BLOOD* and not bloody as it reads !
The daily sevco still running with the story that the Morrocan Messi is Everton bound £25 million plus add-ons.
Dessers to leave in a cut price deal, they don’t say who to or for how much.
It’s not incompetent . It’s out and out corruption . It’s only a matter of time till they cause Celtic to drop points .
Celtic are going to get nothing from a ‘Rangers’ supporting VIDEO ASSISTING RANGERS RANGEREE like Beaton. Beaton, Scott, Walsh, Muir, Aitken, Dallas, Ross, Robertson, Dickinson, McDermitt, Roome, Spence and McLean need investigating for match fixing. Year after year there corrupt officials do anything they can to hinder Celtic. Why hasn’t Celtic asked UEFA to step in . If they can prosecute corruption officials in Italy and Spain then why not Scotland. These men have been getting away with this for decades. It’s so obvious that even a blind man could see it.
A motherwell player fouls to gain advantage from 6 or 7 yards out. A grade 1 referee using all the VAR technology available to him (John beaton) deems it a good goal… A CELTIC player about 30 yards from goal is deemed by the same grade 1 referee with all the VAR technology available to him to be offside (even with the dodgy squiggly line) it’s inconclusive he runs and holds off a defender smashed the ball past the goalkeeper hits a defender and goes into the net …..has the rule of…in line is onside…. changed…. If not it’s a good goal….if it has been changed what has been put in it’s place
