Seven days apart it is clear that Calum Scott has issues with ‘inconsistencies’ when he is refereeing matches involving clubs from Glasgow.
Scott is one of the rising stars in Willie Collum’s refereeing stable, with no obvious ability, flair or understanding for the game he is climbing through the ranks in the same manner as his mentor did almost 20 years ago.
On Sunday at Ibrox he had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot when Adam Montgomery made contact with Cyril Dessers in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
No VAR prompting was required, the match referee pointed to the penalty spot but despite that lifeline James Tavernier was unable to score from 12 yards with the final whistle blown a few minutes later.
A week earlier, at the Motherwell v Celtic match Scott decided to take a much more relaxed attitude to contact in the penalty box, on that occasion it paid off with Luke Armstrong equalising for Motherwell.
Callum Scott Mr Magoo at fir park last week when CCV gets ah two handed shove in the back in the lead up tae Motherwell’s goal.
Once again no close up replays of the incident is this because of poor camera work or the video editors choice of clip ? https://t.co/vqcs1F9j88— Terry O’Neill (@terryoneill67) February 11, 2025
At Fir Park Cameron Carter-Vickers was pushed forward, losing the flight of the ball which broke back to Armstrong off Auston Trusty allowing the striker to score from close range.
Scott saw no problem with a very clear foul on the Celtic defender, VAR opted not to intervene but Sky Sports viewers were denied the view from behind the goal which clearly showed the extent of the push.
It required a hand held mobile phone from the stand behind the goal to show the extent of the push that contributed to Motherwell’s goal.
Fortunately, against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night a proper VAR system will be in place with the officials not appointed by Collum.
No Scottish officials are involved in this week’s Champions League Play-Off matches.

4 minutes 44 seconds for push on Cameron Carter-Vickers
THE LOOK ON HIS UGLY F**KIN MUG TELLS YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HIM !
Good spot about him cheating in the Motherwell v Celtic game (against Celtic of course)…
And his far more open cheating in the Sevco v Queens Park game (for Sevco of course)…
Good point about ‘no’ TV cameras behind the goal at Motherwell…
Only they got caught regardless –
Aye it’s a shadowy country full to the core at dark arts and skulduggery is Bonnie old Scotland…
Well at the football anyway it certainly fuckin well is !
Scott was desperate for the Queens Park keeper to be 2 cm’s off his line when he saved Tavpen’s penalty . That way he would have ordered a retake .He held the game up also as to add on added time in added time giving theRangers hope in trying to score an equalising goal .Have you ever witnessed a referee blow his whistle so quickly in order to give a team a penalty kick ? Me neither …
I have seen it happen a MILLION times for Sevco and against Celtic Valentine’s…
One actual million fuckin times !
Ismt that 2 occasdions at Fir Park now where Celtic have been wronged by VAR? Also, look at his position when he gave hun penalty against Queens Park… Nowhere near up with play but also no hesitation in awarding it
It was NEVER a penalty…The game is bent in favour of Sevco and was for the former Club as well…Did the Queen’s Park manager mention it ?….’Cos most teams don’t and Sevco get away with murder.
