Five days after losing to Queens Park in the Scottish Cup Phil Clement was back in front of the media at lunchtime today.

The conference was technically to discuss Sunday’s match away to Hearts but not a single question was asked about Neil Critchley’s side.

It is very clear that Clement has no intention of walking away from a contract that runs until May 2028, the financial aspects of that deal make it impossible for the Ibrox board to deliver what the fans want most.

Clement genuinely doesn’t understand the scale of the Queens Park defeat, it has broken supporters who were on the brink. Many wanted to believe that progress in Europe is a sign of progress but having the domestic season ending on February 9 can’t be dressed up or deflected away from.

Whatever the questions today the solution is to work hard and deliver success, highlighting an away win and scoring three goals away to Dundee United doesn’t impress any bears after the humiliation of the Queens Park defeat.

However results go Clement’s future is the only issue for the fans and media, the next domestic draw or defeat is never far away but until the funds become available to pay off Clement and fund a replacement the Belgian Beale will continue to limp along with virtually no support among the fans, media or playing staff.

Joe McHugh has been Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.
When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.
Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.
There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same more than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying every success for Scotland's Most Successful Club.

It’s getting to the point I’m gaining a bit of respect for poor philippe. It must be some payday he’s hanging on for if he’s willing to take that amount of vitriol on the chin and keep coming back for more! He’s the david price of football management, has to keep believing the hype but is definitely getting knocked out again

Wow listened to the waffler today and was in awe of the gall of the guy , he’s truely deluded and unconcerned that the knuckle draggers to a man and their families , want him gone , how one man can cause such misery to so many and get away with it is astonishing , he has synergy with the fans he tells us , it’s a marriage made in hell and all bad ones should end in divorce , in the meantime i wonder would he be open to buying shares in the club he says he is do fond of ? i bet the bunion bears would be thrilled to bits !!!! big philly the billie must stay !!!! don’t go big philly !!! don’t goooooooooooooooooooooooooooh ffs !!! chortle

  • Zeddy says:

I don’t think he’s a loon at all. He’s playing the game, making sure he emphasises his commitment to the club, the cause and the fans. Consistency is the key he says, and that’s his offer to them irrespective of results. he’s being advised at every step.

Have to admit I’ll miss his lunacy when he gets punted – it’s became amusing now…

Will miss his pish pot jerker performance in the Liebrox dug out as well when he’s offski !!!

  • Captain Swing says:

The orcs could launch a GoFundMe to finance Clement’s severance package – they could call it GoFireMe! Hahahaha!

Knowing how much they love to put their own money into their club, that’d raise about £4.75 – they’ll be still whining about finding “new investment” when in fact giving Sevco money to sack Clement is the polar opposite of “investing”, with no chance whatsoever of any form of return on the money.
