Just like with Micky Beale and Phil Clement SFA officials have been ensuring that some extra help has been provided for the new manager bounce at Ibrox.
Don Robertson provided some baffling decisions at Rugby Park last night with Steven McLean following the script in the VAR room.
There was some serious scenes of wrestling in the opening stages as Kilmarnock forced a series of corners, neither official wanted to know with the homeside overcoming the odds to go 2-0 up.
With Clinton Nsiala exposed once again Jack Butland pulled off a fingertip save to prevent Killie getting a third, helpfully Robertson awarded a goal-kick.
In a complete reversal of that incident a weak shot from Ianis Hagi in the 52nd minute went wide of goal, after initially awarding a goal-kick Robertson changed his mind to award a corner.
I’m a bit late to this one – Rangers player wrestles the Kilmarnock player away from the area the ball is coming to, and pushes him in to the goals, this is ok now?
Just for future reference, because it looks like a clear foul. pic.twitter.com/P27gEXkwN8

From that corner you can effectively see Hamza Igamane from march a Killie defender past goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara behind the goal-line.
Amid his excitement over the goal it is understandable that Robertson was unable to track Igamane’s actions, on VAR duty McLean has no excuse but since April 2015 it seems that his appointments aren’t performance related. The VAR check was completed in less than 30 seconds.
On Saturday McLean will be picking up another fee as he referees St Johnstone v Dundee, the following day Robertson will be enjoying generous expenses for the trip to Aberdeen where Dundee United are the visitors.
Despite the expanded Champions League format Robertson has been restricted by UEFA to taking charge of two UEFA Conference League matches and a Champions League qualifier between Bodo Glimt and Riga Fotbol Skola back in July.
At the Celtic AGM in November Michael Nicholson praised the VAR Review, a monthly 25 minute show on You Tube, for bringing accountability to refereeing issues.

They were 2-0 down in Ned Lasso’s first game and the officials lend a helping hand , quelle surprise.

Only in Scotland!! ?????????
Desperate times call for desperate measures. It is time for all good brothers to come to the aid of the Club!
Yeah it’s true , but you have to question McInnes and his tactics after going 2-0 up against his no 1 team ? Kilmarnock began 4-4-2 . Would it not have been more prudent to either have changed to either 5 at the back or midfield making it extremely difficult for theRangers to break Killie down especially when trailing 0-2 ? A5-4-1 or 4-5-1 formation ! No ..the biggest fraud in Scottish football decided that he wanted to keep letting theRangers take chance after chance to get back into the game . There was zero chance McInnes was going to spoil Mrs Ferguson’s husband’s welcome party …even when his side went 2- 0 up ….never in a billion years ! It was all in the pre match handshake…..
A thought that was someone getting marched out the pub with a bouncer, why is not being called out.
To anybody, that is just shocking.
And how can a ref [or linesman?] miss that in real time?
Well, it’s for Killie to complain.
But, then again our club doesn’t complain either. 🙁
Nsiala cost Sevco the last game and was about to do the same for this one. I was predicting 4 nil.
Unfortunately Ferguson only took 31 mins to sort it. That is what changed the match. I wish BR had the courage to do that with Hatate after his 3rd misplaced pass, if he has to pick him in the first place.
The other worrying thing is he is a listener and therefore a learner. At one point He was telling Raskin something and the player started talking and Ferguson shut up and took in what he was saying. He also listened to advice from his assistants.
Sorry, as much as I wanted it to be Ferguson is no idiot and in the interests of knowing your enemy we shouldn’t treat him as such.
Wasn’t even discussed on a Sportscene so what chance do you have…
McInnes didn’t say anything there either –
It’s probably too late to effect this season’s title race…
But in a close run race the effects of The Cheats with Whistles, Flags and Monitors would be epic for Sevco !

Let’s hope the brothers keep “assisting” the best young manager in the world, so he gets the gig full time….. (;-0)
