Barry Ferguson has a spring in his step again, a smile on his face and it is all thanks to Keith Jackson.
The veteran Daily Record reporter came out of the traps at 5.45 on Wednesday with the joyous news of multi-million pound investment leading to a spending splurge.
And with the Ferguson was skipping down the street with joy, as excited as he was when Sir David Murray told him of a way to stash £2.5m out of reach from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
What could possibly go wrong with a WORLD EXCLUSIVE from Jackson? Moonbeams are back on the menu, a new look Ibrox will soon be emerging with the best players in the world jetting in to Murray Park for signing talks.
Forget the detail of buying out four major shareholders that aren’t on speaking terms, complying with multi-club ownership rules and Financial Sustainability Regulations.
All that matters in Barry’s world is that at long last someone, somehow is going to Stoap Selik. That is the bottom line.
There’s a reason why they are referred to as the Gullible & Deluded, as the bears brace themselves for another Celtic treble the desperation for good news becomes over whelming.
Even when it comes from Jackson and the Daily Record, it is as if 2010, billionaires from Motherwell and wealth off the radar never happened.
Ferguson is from Lanarkshire, has earned and lost a small fortune in his life but is putting his faith, hope and trust in the guy that introduced Whyte to Daily Record readers.
Bursting with pride for the arrival of a Sugar Daddy, Ferguson tells the Daily Record:
I’m trying my best not to get carried away. But it’s difficult. Because, from the moment the Daily Record broke the news about the San Francisco 49ers and a possible Ibrox takeover, I’ve had the feeling that this might be the chance to Make Rangers Great Again.
Like I say, there’s still some way to go before the Americans have got this deal over the line. And it’s natural to feel a bit wary until the deal is over the line because these things are never done until they are done. But, over the last 24 hours, I’ve been looking into what this might mean for my old club and I must admit, I’m excited. This doesn’t feel like pie in the sky. It feels like the real deal – and anyone with any connection with Rangers knows it’s exactly what the place has been crying out for.
We all know there needs to be fresh investment. It’s blindingly obvious. Let’s be honest, we’ve just sat watching our team getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup at home to Queen’s Park – then turned on the telly to see Celtic coming within seconds of beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League. If ever there was a week which summed up the size of the gap between the two clubs then I can’t remember it.
It’s felt like very dark days for Rangers and their supporters. You’re constantly asking yourself, ‘How on earth are we ever going to be competitive again?’. And then all of a sudden this story drops out of the sky and the answer to the question is staring you right in the face.
In three weeks time Ferguson will be watching Clement’s exciting young side visit the runaway SPFL leaders, over the next few months the Record will almost certainly be covering trophy #120 for the Most Successful Club in Scotland, a 55th title.
Jackson’s story will provide comfort over a couple of days but with this story starting in South Africa it is unlikely that Douglas Park will be cashing in his chips just yet.

barry une biatch with his ” Like I say, there’s still some way to go before the Americans have got this deal over the line. And it’s natural to feel a bit wary until the deal is over the line because these things are never done until they are done ”
has become a bit of a sage in his old age …. bless ….. chortle
How will gers support react to a catholic owner of their club, Denise de Bartolo-York is majority shareholder/owner of SF 49ers. Brought up in catholic family, attended catholic school & college and now due to be head of the ibrox board. ??????????
Wee Bawwy the Fud, the Clown who ‘Claimed’ Van Wankhurst had Ange’s No.. RESULT 4-0 tae the Hoops! 🙂 🙂 BAWAHAHAHAHAHA!!
“and anyone with any connection with Rangers knows it’s exactly what the place has been crying out for.” Well Elbows, I have no connection and I know what you mean….. a sugar daddy to stop Celtic at all costs.
This is the type of deal that gives me the fear, if something like this happened to us. I would rather an absentee like Desmond then a multi interest group only interested in making money for themselves. But then I suppose at 12 years old, there isn’t much soul to rip out of that rancid hole.
I blame the schools.
James Forrest has done a wonderful article on this on his site The Cektic Blog.
The zombies in the sevco support can’t see the danger their klub could be heading in.
The yanks will come in and asset strip the place bear sorry bare, only to leave the place in a worse condition than they found it.
MEGA CHISLING AT IT’S BEST,once again the ibrox klub will be found with their trousers down at their ankles with the 69s and big John Homles and the other cast members riding them for all their worth.
No doubt Ferguson has been briefed by his Mrs what to say about any financial transactions emanating out from Ibroxland or daily Record Towers ? She’s the money whizz in that household . Still , I would have thought Bazza would want to continue to keep a low profile about all things of a financial matter , directly or indirectly to a minimum , with his history of less than proper enterprises ? Lots of people out there with long memories …kind of thing ,and all that !
His article is a cliche ridden load of tosh – UEFA FSR rules- who cares about them?
When I checked the Record online this morning 4 out of the the first five stories were all about this drivel, and they wonder why it’s called the Daily Ranger.
Oh, happy days are here again, tra-la-la-la-la!
They just can’t see it, can they?! The only reason any “outsiders” would buy into Sevco is to make money from it, and to make a profit from a loss-making business you must either slash costs, increase revenues or sell off any existing assets, or indeed a combination of any of the three. In terms of a football club, that means paring staff and other costs to the bone, vastly increasing ticket prices and flogging any members of the playing staff who will fetch a fee on the transfer market…. if this goes ahead fun times beckon, but for us rather than them. If they know any Man Utd fans, they should get them to explain the Glazer takeover to them and what it meant to their competitiveness falling off a Cliff!!
The new club is over £80m in debt by the end of the current season, and the first £20m that the Catholic family put in is going (you guessed it) on purchasing new players (;-0)

Not long now until the corruption starts again. City number 2 guaranteed.. It’s in the bloo
The corruption never stopped and never will in rancid Scotland !
