Scott Burns has spelt out the brutal truth that the Daily Record would rather protect their readers from.
A short lived LIVE BLOG at the start of the week built up hopes that Phil Clement was about to be sacked but with a contract running until May 2028 the Belgian Beale won’t be walking away from the best pay day of his career.
The financial issues at Ibrox have been obvious since the pre-season trip to Holland were Clement explained that the goal posts had been moved with everyone up for sale expect £30m rated Super Jack Butland.
Five first team players were sold for a combined total of just £810,000 as a desperate attempt at cost cutting was launched.
Unfortunately Clement cut income by more than £5m by losing to Dinamo Kiev and losing out on the Champions League Play Off windfall, a few weeks later £3m was spent on Nedim Bajrami who has added virtually nothing to a squad of serial losers.
The Record is keen to push the notion of a season of transition alongside strategic reviews but the bottom line is that £500,000 couldn’t be found to buy Lyall Cameron last month, in the summer Dundee will be due a fee of around £400,000 for the midfielder.
The Record asked their star writers ‘Is Patrick Stewart right that there’s more needing fixed at Rangers than just Clement or should it start with the manager?’ Burns replied with a little too much detail for sensitive bears looking for some feel-good news for the weekend:
SCOTT: It is clear that they don’t have the money to get rid of the manager just now or they would have done it. Yes, Clement has done well in Europe but domestically his team have been miles off it. I would expect the managerial situation to be fixed in the summer when there is more money in the pot.
Some bears think that the lack of January spending was to create a war-chest for the next manager…
With £4m committed to signing Oscar Cortes, Clement’s successor will have to make do with scraps as Stewart holds out for a £30m bid for Jefte or Hamza Igamane.
Clement was able to splash the cash on Jefte, Robin Propper, Connor Barron, Bajrami and Mohamed Diomande, his replacement will have to get a tune out of those signings while James Tavernier, Cyril Dessers, Danilo, Ben Davies, Jose Cifuentes continue to drain the wage bill.

Burns is based in Aberdeen I believe so there is very little chance of him being ‘ banned’ from Ibroxland for insubordination? His bosses at the rag daily Record might not be best pleased though .
