After more than a decade sharing the views of Barry Ferguson with their declining Army of Readers the Daily Record has announced a replacement for the former Alloa and Clyde boss.

Feeding them the same diet of spin and moonbeams is Scott Arfield, since returning to Scottish football at Falkirk the midfielder has been met with surge in media work.

With every revenue stream falling through the floor it is a bizarre decision to pay Arfield for his views when he is a regular on Radio Scotland, Sky Sports and TNT Sport with the same message.

Daily Record

During February print sales of the Daily Record fell to 43,342, an annual drop of 17.1% with the trend suggesting that it will end this season with less than 40,000 sales per day. The Sunday Mail achieved that last month, dropping to 39,783 with sales down 20.4%

With those figures in mind it seems bizarre to hire Arfield while sending two reporters to Athens to cover a Scotland match that was live on BBC Scotland.

Meanwhile Jim Mulligan, CEO of Reach which includes the Record, Sunday Mail, Express and Star has been paid a £662,000 bonus for last year on top of his salary of £529,646.

Lol the daily sevco soaking up losses just like their favourite club, brilliant.
But it won’t last just like sevco they can’t sustain that hit so Arfield and the rest will be no more.
You couldn’t make it up with the amount sevco duds that end up with a gig in the media,as I keep saying these are the ARSEHOLES who got the gig through the sevco connection, just think of the sevco punters that failed the interview or didn’t pass the test.

I hope big Inaction and wee Scotty got receipts for their booze bag soirée in Athens ? The ” lagers for breakfast ” lads were back , comparing notes , no doubt toasting their favourite clumpany many times while on the sauce at their work ? Those receipts would come to enormous Euro’s ….way too much to be written off by their bosses ! I’m getting concerned about Inaction these days … he’ s looking much ruddier and flushed in the boat race department . Do you think he got a raise in salary or a big fat bonus for his ‘ world exclusive ‘ story about the 49 ers , and is still celebrating ? Hhiicccuuppp.. ppaarrrppp!
