Keith Jackson has claimed that the Ibrox takeover is ‘nearing completion’.

That is in contrast to Chris Jack of the Rangers Review who, yesterday gave out a completion date of the end of May.

Neither Jackson or Jack are takeover specialists, the only time Jackson ventured into that area he got it right over Craig Whyte taking over from Dave Murray but his financial profiling of the Lanarkshire businessman was wildly optimistic.

The initial story was wrapped up in the San Francisco 49ers, on day two the focus switched to Paraag Marathe before settling on mysterious businessman Andrew Cavenagh.

Tonight’s thrilling update reveals:

American tycoon Andrew Cavenagh has returned to Glasgow this afternoon for the first time since Record Sport revealed he’s the driving force behind the?Rangers takeover.

And he looks set to be given the VIP treatment at Ibrox tonight for the second leg of the club’s?Europa League showdown with Fenerbahce.

Cavenagh – who was in Istanbul last week to watch Barry Ferguson’s side romp to a stunning 3-1 win – checked into a plush city centre hotel just after 3pm.

He is part of a four man delegation which includes San Francisco 49ers representative Gretar Steinsen – the former Iceland international who was lured into a key role at Leeds United by the NFL giants.

Cavenagh’s arrival on Scottish soil is the clearest indication yet that his multi-million buyout is nearing completion. We previously revealed how he had attended a home match against St Johnstone in January before he was publicly known to be at the heart of a revolutionary US proposal to hoover up more than 50 per cent of the shareholding.

The following month he and associate Paraag Marathe – head of 49ers Enterprises and Elland Road chairman – were also given the red carpet treatment as guests of the current Rangers board for the Battle of Britain clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Marathe was not in Turkey for last week’s win over Jose Mourinho’s side and it seems unlikely that he will be in attendance for tonight’s second leg.

But Steinsen is widely regarded as Marathe’s eyes and ears and he does look set to accompany Cavenagh through the front doors tonight.

Cavenagh has yet to break cover or speak publicly since we revealed his leading role in the sensational takeover deal but, should he take a seat in the directors’ box tonight, the Philadelphia based medical insurance mogul will position himself front and centre of the bid to transform the fortunes of the Ibrox club.

It’s understood a series of agreements to buy out several key shareholders have been thrashed out with the paperwork now in the hands of teams of lawyers for legal rubber stamping.

As part of the deal, Cavenagh and Marathe have also pledged to pump millions of pounds into the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

Clearly UEFA’s Financial Sustainability Rules have yet to be explained to Jackson as he dreams of a summer spending spree to try and blank out Celtic winning their 55th title and possibly a world record ninth treble.

Hopefully tyre-kicker Cavenagh hangs around for the weekend and is in the Directors Box at Celtic Park on Sunday.

The closer it gets to D-Day aka season book renewals the more the ARSEHOLES in the Scottish press will be pushing it out there that the deal is almost done, just one final push trying for a bowel movement after a week laxatives of constipation.

It’s hard to believe someone will pay $200M for a club with 3 trophies, massive debts, massive losses and a poor squad, when The actual bona-fide Ranger were only worth a £1 and owed less money.

    Clown World indeed.

IF this guy is being hosted by sevco then there is ‘something’ happening?

    Don’t think it’s a takeover though.

Mibbees giving a loan secured as a floating charge over the club?

Mibbees replacing the current loans from Directors?

But, possibly the best option is an insolvency event to drop debts and that shocking balance sheet.

We’re all speculating though, but the real story can’t be good for RIFC…?
