Kris Boyd has broken with convention by naming Robin Propper as being miles off it.
The Ibrox players in general have been heavily criticised but it is virtually unknown for individual players to be named and shamed.
Propper was a £1.5m replacement for Connor Goldson during the summer transfer window on the back of his best ever season with FC Twente.
At the age of 30 he had never played in any European competition, coming through the ranks he had never been capped by the Netherlands at any level.
Propper has given a number of interviews to Dutch media outlets in which he has highlighted how unsuited he is for Scottish football. For a defender he seems loathe to tackle opponents or head the ball which are probably the absolute essentials for defenders in the Scottish game.
John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Dujon Sterling are all back in training with Boyd hoping to see a new look central defensive partnership lining up against Fenerbahce on Thursday night.

If they had won every game and put some pressure on, I think Barry and his staff would have been realistic going into the job, knowing fine well that it didn’t matter however good a manager you were- this group of players will find a way to let you down- and that’s exactly what they did again at Ibrox (on Saturday against Motherwell).
Everybody was going to Ibrox, I was there myself, I had to do a bit for Soccer Saturday, I was there for the opening 10/15 minutes and you could see, even in the stands you kind of got, there was an atmosphere that you hadn’t seen around for a number of months.
(The hope that kills them)
But then as soon as the players take to the pitch it is the same old performances, it was poor again.
But I tell you what Roger, we’ve got a habit of focussing on our big teams, how bad they’ve been but Michael Wimmer and Motherwell deserve a lot of credit.

Robin Propper, Insiala got the brunt of it last week, last Wednesday night but Robin Propper is miles of it and has been for a period of time now. Yes, James Tavernier went into centre-back at Kilmarnock but I think that in the heat of the moment, when the game has already started it is an easier thing to do to move from that right hand side. But at the weekend it didn’t work, Yilmaz, on the right, I know that it worked against Celtic but the balance was all wrong for Rangers.
Rangers players can blame managers and coaches but we’ve all sat here having a go, saying about tactics as well but you just kind of get the feeling that Rangers players have to go and show that playing for the Football Club means a lot to them. And some of them, right now, that doesn’t seem to be clear.
Propper, Yilmaz and Tavernier have the same commitment to their current employer as Boyd had to Portland Timbers and Middlesbrough, it is a pay day, a means to an end. Certainly not an institution or however else Boyd wants to dress up the 2012 Tribute Act as.
Boyd then went on to shed some tears over a penalty that St Mirren should have had claiming that it should have been a red card as well.
On March 16 the former Scotland star will be at the home of the champions watching the Glasgow Derby.
NOTE: Propper has scored as many goals against Celtic as Boyd.
