Viljami Sinisalo was again an unused substitute as Finland drew 2-2 away to Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier yesterday.
His role at club level however could be about to change with Kasper Schmeichel returning from international duty with his arm in a sling.
The extent of the injury to the first choice keeper remains unknown with the first news likely to come on Friday morning when pictures are released of Celtic’s training session ahead of Saturday’s return to action at home to Hearts.
If Schmeichel is missing from those pictures then it looks like Sinisalo is about to make his SPFL Premiership debut with just one cup appearance, at home to Raith Rovers to his name this season.
The 23-year-old Finn was largely untested in that Scottish Cup tie but that is likely to change if he faces Hearts who are battling to remain in the top six for the post-split fixtures.
Saturday’s spotlight will all be on Celtic as they look to bounce back from defeat in the Glasgow Derby with the real prospect that Schmeichel will be replaced by Sinisalo for the first time in the SPFL Premiership campaign.
