Anyone in any doubt about what drives legacy media in Scotland has been presented with all the evidence that they’ll ever need this week.
Simply put they are barely capable of producing any content that isn’t Ibrox related, whatever they are presented with the discussion will always turn to events relating to Charles Green’s 2012 Tribute Act.
With first pick of the four quarter-final ties Premier Sports will show Hearts v Dundee on Friday night and on Sunday the Celtic v Hibs match.
Showing the usual level of imagination the standard way of promoting these events is to dig up a former player, ideally associated with both clubs, put him in front of the cameras and microphones and get them to pose with billboards for the match and possibly wearing a polo shirt for the sponsors.
Media outlets get easy copy to fill some spaces while the sponsor gets some not so subtle coverage. Everyone is happy.
This weekend eight clubs play in Scottish Cup ties however a club not featuring has dominated all of the news coming out of Monday’s Hampden media call.

It is inevitable that the most topical issue will be touched on or covered but with no presence in the Scottish Cup almost everything out of Hampden has been centered on a club having a blank weekend.
Presented with Neil Lennon, Steven Naismith, Colin Hendry and Allan Stubs the weekend cup ties barely get a look in.
First up Lennon was asked about the O** F*** and provided the headline that there is a chasm between the big two.
Wee Naisy, picking up the slack caused by the recent unavailability of Neil McCann and Billy Dodds spoke of how he is saddened by the 2012 Tribute Act becoming a sideshow to Scotland’s most successful club.
And so it continued with Stubbs and Hendry.
It even got to the ridiculous stage of getting Stubbs to speculate on what impact the Ibrox fakeover will have!
Two weeks on and no-one has dared to get the thoughts of Douglas Park on the fakeover which is basically a guy in South Africa finding a guy in the USA interested in buying his shares with the story presented to favoured media outlets.
Premier Sports would have been hoping for a spike in subscription rates on the back of live coverage of the two all-Premiership cup ties.
Other than a couple of pictures they’ll be hard pressed to find a worthwhile comment for their matches on Friday and Sunday.
