There are no two ways about it, the 2024/25 domestic Scottish campaign has turned into another good one for Celtic and manager Brendan Rodgers and in many ways, given the European and Champions League adventure that we enjoyed, it will definitely go down in history as a pretty remarkable one – particularly if we now complete the Treble once again as we are fully expected to do.
Going into the month of May, there are a handful of fixtures that remain in the calendar but having battled our way to the CL knockout Play Offs, we have already secured the Premiership title with a very comfortable points advantage, and lifted the League Cup trophy and with Aberdeen up in the Scottish Cup final, it really should be ours against an Aberdeen side who have found some form. For those fans who enjoy online casino games such as gates of olympus, they would undoubtedly be confident in their own approach and chances.
Four titles in a row and baring a very unseen twist of fate, it will be six Trebles since Rodgers first arrived back in 2016 and naturally with expectations high, fans are asking what comes next.
Maintaining the title and going for five in a row will be an obvious priority, as will be notching up another Treble if we can, but many in the Celtic faithful (and the wider world of football) would now be expecting the 2025/26 campaign to be the one where Europe is more than a passing hope, and becomes something that is maybe a touch more important than the Treble in some ways.
Our gaffer has long looked forward and is very much ‘enjoy the success, then move on’ and with the 52 year old Northern Irishman already stating that he will categorically “200%” remain at the club and Parkhead for the coming campaign, he will undoubtedly be looking to do achieve something we do not now almost class as a given.
With the league long won in reality given our early season form and the points advantage that we built up, yes our form had periods of wobble, but there is no doubt that Rodgers will not be letting that change his aspirations for next season, nor sour his current judgement on the first team group of players that he can call on.
With finances significantly bolstered by our better than expected European progression this year, in many ways helped by the pots available from the newly revamped Champions League format, he will be hoping that he can spend big purely on those targets that he feels will make the biggest difference to our future European battles.
Last season’s progress, and the showings that we put in against some very well known sides, will have only boosted our profile further – and certainly brought it more up to date after our more recent history. That in itself should help us to attract a better calibre of player, and give us an improved negotiation advantage when chasing whoever the manager chooses to prioritise as his preferred targets when the transfer window open.
We already know that shopping at a higher level makes a difference to your chances, and that would be true for a European adventure just as much as it was for our domestic hopes and dreams of keeping the Treble run going.
Now, it is over to the club to show the ambition that truly lifts us to a new level.
