Keith Jackson believes that Saturday’s home defeat from Hibs proves the case for Barry Ferguson to be given the Ibrox job on a permanent basis!
Goals in either half gave the Edinburgh side full points, inflicting a fifth successive home defeat on the 2012 Tribute Act.
Phil Clement was sacked after two of those defeats, a few weeks after Paddy Stewart stated the need for continuity – Saturday was Ferguson’s third match at Fortress Ibrox with Athletic Bilbao looking to extend that run on Thursday night.
Using the usual Ibrox logic Jackson uses his Daily Record column to explain why Ferguson deserves the credit for everything good while the Belgian Baldrick is the cause of every defeat and set-back.
Jackson has been close to Ferguson for over a decade, he may even have been the ghost writer for an amusing weekly column in the ailing Glasgow-based newspaper.
Getting Ferguson the manager’s job on a full time basis appears to have become a personal crusade for Jackson, in today’s Record he explains:
Rangers probably don’t realise it yet.
And, granted, Saturday’s abject performance and awful result at home to Hibs certainly won’t make the truth of the matter any more obvious or easy to recognise.
But – and you’ll just have to trust me on this one – they have exactly the right man for the job in?Barry Ferguson even if they can’t quite see it for themselves at this low point in the caretaker manager’s short stint at the helm.
Yes, Ferguson and his backroom staff are the right men in the right place and at the right time. They’ve just got the wrong team, inherited as it has been from a man who had no grasp at all on the rudimentary requirements of his role.
So Clement was to blame for the home defeats to Motherwell, Fenerbahce and Hibs despite having the Record’s poster boy in the dug-out backed up by the finest team of BBC pundits beside him on the training ground.
Philippe Clement may be long gone now but his legacy lives on in the shape of a first team squad which is not even remotely close to being fit for purpose. The reality is, the Belgian Baldrick is the man to blame for the shambling state that Rangers find themselves in.
Ferguson, Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor are merely attempting to repair some of the damage done during his amateurish, error ridden 18 months in charge.
That is the guy drooled over as A Proper Football Manager, who wasn’t questioned when he described a 3-3 draw with Celtic as a Moral Victory, who was praised to the hilt for rescuing last season following the disastrous start by Micky Beale. Clement went 16 matches unbeaten, including a cup semi, a cup final and Europa League trip to Real Betis after taking over from the Brains Behind Gerrard, Ferguson has lost three of his first seven.
This is not time for another rebuild or even a star spangled revolution. It’s gone too far for that.
No, what’s required at Rangers right now is an out and out restoration job. And, in order to restore, first there must be a fundamental realisation of what the club was supposed to look like in the first case.
Yes, Ferguson may lack managerial experience but what he knows better than almost anyone else are the standards required to make this club competitive and capable of offering up a credible challenge to Celtic’s domestic dominance.
He and his men may have arrived in this position just in time for rock bottom but, even so, they understand precisely what will be required in order for this club to start digging its way out the hole it has fallen into.
Unlike the chancers and wage thieves they have at their disposal, they know what a successful Rangers should look and feel like.
And so it goes on.
In order to state the case for his mate Barry, Derek was ditched earlier this season, Jackson refers to the previous manager as the Belgian Baldrick while the squad of players that finished eighth in the Europa League group phase are chancers and wage thieves.
There are bound to be some players in the Ibrox dressing room that can join the dots between what their interim manager is thinking and what appears in the newspaper that he was writing for as recently as February.
Future Monday morning columns have been set an incredibly high benchmark.

That fanny Jackass Jackson is asking people to TRUST him on this, sounds like he has been hanging around with big Donald with talk like that.
He uses the word TRUST,I’m sure that was his war cry when he described Whyte as having wealth off the radar, and he asks for TRUST.
As for wee Benji, getting a keg up from his buddies in the press that ain’t a surprise, another dipping of the toe in the water putting it out there for him as a candidate for the job, because when it’s announced there is no FAKEOVER,they will be left with wee Benny holding the poisoned Chalice.
No team has the divine right to win every game unless yiur sevco, but St Johnstone deserved that victory yesterday.
But I will tune into SSB tonight to get cheered up by the huns moaning in and to listen to their take and thinking on the bird brain of Britain in management wee Barry.
So sevco got their arse skelped off Hibs on Saturday and we went down to a defeat by St Johnstone, and right now I wouldn’t fancy our chances at ibrox in the coming weeks.
We ain’t as good as we think we are FACT.
The “Team” Don’t want to play for their fans,
Especially at Ibrox the team know that the fans hate them, constant booing, and racist songs,ar just a few of their problems.
Weee Bazza, and his team talks must be something to behold. With the players looking blankly on.
Keith Jackshun believes….
Ha Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
5 defeats on the bounce at home and they’re actually doubling down on the give Baz the job campaign
Meanwhile if Celtic win the treble it’s gonna be ‘ Dullest treble ever ‘
Fuck me man
Just bulldoze that Daily Record office down with all these loonies in it
Celtic hardly had a shot on target yesterday, yet week in week out, Dessers misses around 3 to 4 absolute sitters. I agree with whoever said it first, that all Sevco needs is a goal-scorer.
The facts speak for themselves.
The number of chances spurned by Dessers and co show the management are doing something right.
Luckily their board are more stupid than ours.
Chancers and wage thieves ! Hibs went 2- 0 up at Ibroxland on Saturday and Mrs Ferguson’s husband did not have clue No1 what to do, or how to fix it ! He stood there scratching his facial bum fluff wishing he could grow a half decent beard …that’s the limit of this guy’s talents ! The main reason Inaction desires Ferguson as permanent boss is because he would be first choice for all the scoop tales to emanate out of Govanlandia because of Ferguson’s time as a Pulitzer Prize winning author at the daily Record ? So in that respect ..chancer and wage thief applies directly into the conversation , easily .
That arsehole Jackson is one seriously hurting hun so let him bleat on.
He rarely, if ever, gets things right yet has the sheer temerity to come out with “trust me” (I see what you can’t see just now but will see later….). Just who the fukk would EVER trust that clown? Sticking up for his hun pals, the Beady-eyed Bastard and the 3 new hun/old hun stooges. Aye, I sincerely hope the new hun board is all ears and follows that utter prick’s advice and appoints all 4 of them. 1 caveat. Our board prepares for serious litigation against the new huns, the LRA/SPFL/SFA as that scum will set out to maim us with a compliant LRA prepared to look away and let it go. Sorry, caveat 2. (As our board will no doubt say/do nothing.) Our supporters prepare to stand up proud, back the team and force the exit of the board, every last one of them lock, stock and both fukkin barrels.
