DUNDEE, SCOTLAND - APRIL 26: Celtic's Nicolas Kuhn celebrates after scoring to make it 2-0 during a William Hill Premiership match between Dundee Utd and Celtic at the CalForth Construction Arena at Tannadice Park, on April 26, 2025, in Dundee, Scotland. The scorelines were the same, the goalscorer’s even shared a nickname but will Celtic’s second goal against Dundee United be remembered in similar terms to that goal at Love Street in 1986?
There are plenty of similarities between the two although it is highly unlikely that Nicolas Kuhn will develop into the most hated player in the history of Celtic, that ‘accolade’ is in safe hands.
Back in May 86 Celtic fans went to Love Street hoping for the best, the destiny of the Premier League title was in the hands of Hearts but Albert Kidd popped up to destroy a dream.
Wallace Mercer, Sandy Jardine and Alex MacDonald never fully recovered, a generation of Jambos are still waiting to see their team gain revenge.
Yesterday at Tannadice, across the road from the scene of Kidd’s deadly double Celtic were expected to win the match, to become champions of Scotland for the 55th time.
Vil Sinisalo started the move, those training sessions at Lennoxtown paid off. Quickly played through Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda the ball was flashing across goal for Super Nicolas Kuhn to slam into the net.
What a counter for Celtic’s 2nd. Sinisalo to Engels to Maeda, whose excellent cross is turned in by Kuhn on his weaker right peg. pic.twitter.com/dxSDpUMk98

Back in Paisley some genuine Celtic icons were involved in the goal that put Celtic 3-0 in front, resulting in bowel movements in the away dressing room at Dens Park.
Nothing more needs to be said about Danny McGrain, Paul McStay and Roy Aitken with well over 50 years service devoted to Celtic.
Brian McClair knocked in over 100 goals before heading for Manchester United, the guy that put the ball in the net is best air-brushed from history although he did play a significant role in the move towards administration and liquidation of the old Rangers club.

Nothing will beat Love Street 86…Wonderful day of drama and success.
Yep – I’m still savouring that to the core even 39 years later !
The gd ol days when radio was all u had…remember jumping up n down beside my mums old stereo system…
Ive seen n heard a few great things over the years but this is up there with beating Barca in their pomp.
As an aside, there are people in the business world which could make David Murray’s tax shenanigans look like child’s play.
Should a certain team sign Messi ( I know I know) and pay him ” £30/week” the last people to investigate it would be the SFA. or UEFA.
Sorry Pal, I really don’t see your point here.
The article is about two disparate days, 39 years apart. when Celtic clinched two very important Titles.
David Fukkin Murray is a total, Celtic-hating scumbag who, via the masons, had HUGE clout in Scotland, way above anything at the SFA and probably UEFA too. He wanted us dead but only succeeded in killing his own name and his favourite football team (both deservedly so). As far as I’m concerned it’s just a huge pity that he lost the bottom part of his body and not the top part although both would have been fine by me.
