Brendan Rodgers wasn’t slow to comment on his incredible trophy winning record following his 14th victory at Hampden.

Technically it is 12 wins and two draws but when you go on to win on penalty kicks no one really minds having drawn a match as long as the required outcome is achieved.

Assuming Celtic pick up one point in their final five SPFL matches the manager will go into the Scottish Cup Final next month looking to become the first Celtic manager to win three trebles.

Plus one, of course.

After delivering back-to-back trebles Rodgers put the 2018 League Cup back in the Celtic trophy room before heading to Leicester City in February 2019, Neil Lennon completed the treble winning task then did it all himself the following season.

No matter how many trophies Celtic win each and every one of them is cherished, when Rodgers took over as manager in May 2016 the club had 99 trophy wins to their name, by the end of the season that could be raised to 121.

Last season he tasted defeat in the League Cup away to Kilmarnock but retained his grip on the Scottish Cup winning it for the third time last May.

QUESTION: If you do win a treble this year, you’ll be the first Celtic manager in history to have won three trebles with the club. Does that motivate you personally in any way?

RODGERS: Clearly, yes, it does. Three-point-one it will be as well. Yes, of course, it’s nice when it comes to you as an individual. But for me, it’s what’s best for Celtic and us winning the trophies. Because it’s not so much the trophies for me on a personal level. It’s the hard work that goes into it.

The values that are there and the idea of how we work and how we play and how we coach the players every day. So, that’s what’s more important to me.

But, of course, for the club and the history and the supporters, getting the trophy is key. So, for us, we’ve got two more to win. And we’ll recover and get ready to finish off the league.

First time round Aberdeen were the runners up in three of Rodgers five trophy wins, Motherwell were runners-up in both of the 2017/18 competitions.

Rodgers’ domination of Scottish football casts a huge shadow over all others with Derek McInnes the only current top flight manager to have won a domestic trophy, picking up the 2014 League Cup for Aberdeen- with a win over Inverness Caley Thistle at Celtic Park.

Here a point why does Rangers claim 55 Titles when they shared the 1st with Dumbarton should it not be 54-5 or awarded to Dumbarton as they had a better goal difference and better goal average
