Celtic will have to overcome rising star referee Calum Scott if they are to reach the final of the Scottish Cup next month.
With a total of just 16 SPFL Premiership matches on his record Scott takes charge of Sunday’s match between Celtic and St Johnstone.
He has been fairly low profile in the SPFL but jumped into the spotlight when Queens Park went to Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.
The Spiders were leading 1-0 deep into stoppage time when Scott awarded the weakest of penalties for an incident fully instigated by Cyriel Dessers.
Scott rose to the occasion, pointed to the penalty spot but justice was done when Callum Ferrie saved the penalty from legendary Ibrox skipper James Tavernier.
It seems that awarding that penalty has accelerated Scott’s promotion in just his second season refereeing in the Premiership.
Scott’s promotion to the semi-final looks ominous for established names such as Kevin Clancy and Nick Walsh who has been very low profile since seeing his decision to send off Mohamed Diomande away to Dundee United overturned on appeal.
Willie Collum is keen to promote some of his clones with Scott, Ross Hardie and Grant Irvine meeting that criteria.
Steven McLean looks to be the favourite to handle the Scottish Cup Final with David Dickinson likely to achieve a lifelong ambition by being put in charge of the May 4 Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.

Sandwiched between two fouls by Rangers players on opposition players in their penalty area with no penalty awarded and goals scored directly by Rangers from them, you have Rangers being awarded a 95th minute penalty at home losing to Queens Park, which has been widely ignored. https://t.co/puXqb0zc57

Ah the shape, sorry the state of things to come.
I don’t think we’d ever want Celtic ever near anything military…
But we better be on Scott’s Gaurd on Sunday for sure !
I knew at the very second of the queen’s park pen WE had another one of these bastards to contend with
