The Daily Record has virtually closed the door on the San Francisco 49ers taking over at Ibrox.
On February 19 Keith Jackson broke the WORLD EXCLUSIVE online with the paper edition splashing with the 49GERS front and centre to the deal which was at the stage of advanced talks.
Since then there has been virtually no concrete developments with the Record shuffling away from the 49ers to Leeds United and onto Andrew Cavenagh.
The name of the consortium hasn’t emerged, the sellers haven’t been named with nothing on the price of shares.
Speculation on the extent of the summer transfer warchest has been watered down to hoping to get a permanent deal completed for Vaclav Cerny which seems to ignore the £4.5m transfer in place for Oscar Cortes.
The launch of the Season Ticket renewal campaign isn’t far away but after Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers dismissed takeover speculation the Record has taken a subtle change in direction.
This morning Record report:
San Francisco 49ers’ chief executive Jed York kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on a potential Rangers takeover.
But the supremo’s coy update has minimal bearing on Andrew Cavenagh’s ambitions to wrap the deal up this month.
We exclusively broke the story last month that an American consortium, led by businessman Cavenagh and backed by the investment group of the NFL giants, are in talks to buy a controlling stake of the Ibrox side.
A closely-related group already own Leeds United down south and, as has been consistently reported by our man Keith Jackson, the owners-to-be hope to have the deal wrapped up this month.
That will leave them a window to make a number of key decisions, including whether to trigger a buy option in Vaclav Cerny’s loan deal, and who to appoint as the club’s next permanent manager, before pre-season preparations get underway.
The reality is that other than Dave King hoping to sell his shares to Cavenagh absolutely nothing is moving on the WORLD EXCLUSIVE.
The SPFL season finishes on May 17/18, just over six weeks away with all of the signs being that the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act will end the season with the same group of owners as they started the campaign with.

BOOM!
Lol loud all of a sudden the 49s guy is irrelevant to the takeover and it’s just the Cavanagh guy that matters,oh dear, the SIMPLETON people.
Now again all of a sudden there is an option to buy Cerny on the table when the loan deal expires, funny how that was never mentioned as an option from the start, aye £5.5 million secures the deal.
As if Cerny parent club will let sevco have him in a cut price deal from what they paid previously fir Cerny, only for sevco to resale him immediately for £10 million+.
Now isn’t that a great idea, why didn’t Wolfsburg think of that idea themselves,I blame the schools.
If indeed this takeover is total nonsense and just a means to sell STs then obviously the blazers and brogues will blame someone else and preferably something that connects to Celtic.
I’m just wondering how it’s going to be phrased.
In before Sevco gets a sell on percentage for Cerny a la Tilmann. Because Wolfsburg withdrew themselves from the clause.
Sevco have a 15% sell on clause on Lamine Yamal at Barca.
His uncle once picked up a Rangers fridge magnet at a Spanish market…
I heard they also get 10% of Messi’s salary. Because McCoist son once used to sign him for then at FIFA 05.
Note how they’ve taken it upon themselves to add the ( Yet ) after the ‘ We haven’t done anything there ‘ quote
It’s getting watered down away from the 49ers mob every week
Record podcast 49ers exclusive tonight with Keith totally misconstruing the guys quote
