The Daily Record has listed seven VIP bosses that are sure to excite their declining Army of Readers.
The Glasgow based publisher delights in serving up daily updates on the failings of Ange Postecoglou, Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi in order to provide some balance to their football coverage.
Two wins in a row under the Barry Ferguson Revolution has sent spirits soaring at the Record as they attempt to deflect away from Celtic winning #title55 over the next few weeks with a sixth treble in nine seasons the nightmare scenario for the ailing legacy title.
Good news is becoming increasingly difficult to resource but in recent weeks we’ve had Real Madrid eyeing up Hamza Igamane while Nico Raskin is two matches away from the full ‘Barcelona/Dortmund/Newcastle line up Morelos swoop’ treatment.
Back in the real world the new manager will start next season without Vaclav Cerny, Leon Balogun, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi while trying to get a tune out of Oscar Cortes, Ben Davies, Rabbi Matondo, Kieran Dowell and Jose Cifuentes.
Danilo is under contract to 2028 with Jack Butland on a deal running through until 2027, James Tavernier will be honoured with a star studded Testimonial Match in July which will feature a reunion of the 2016 Petrofac Cup Winners.
Gulping down the Deludemol, the Record reports:
Jose Mourinho
Mind games or flattery amid a Europa League showdown?
Mourinho said last month: “At this moment, no, because I have a job,” the 62-year-old told a media conference before the first leg against Barry Ferguson’s side in Istanbul.
Steven Gerrard
The former Rangers boss has been linked with a return to Ibrox, however, in a searingly honest interview with old pal Peter Crouch,
Speaking on Crouch’s podcast, he said: “I don’t want to be back in work mate, no. I’m happy with waking up and being free, doing the family stuff, just being free away from stress,
“I will go in at some point but when it’s round the clocks, I’ve doing it 18, 19 months, I want to be free, I want to play a round of golf, go down the boozer and have a couple of beers, do normal things that you can’t do when you’re coaching.
Sean Dyche
The former Burnley and Everton boss once admitted he planned to seek out tickets to watch Rangers vs Celtic but is seeking time away after leaving Goodison Park.
Barry Ferguson (by proxy)
Neil McCann – speaking on behalf of the coaching team – made clear that they are up for the challenge to go again if asked.
McCann said: “Honestly, it’s not my place to tell – if it is a new ownership coming – if he should get the job. What I would say is that I’ve been very impressed by how he (Ferguson) wants to work.
Sam Allardyce
The outsider’s outsider, but god loves. a trier and on the day he was talked up it would be remiss not to remind punters what he said about the enormity of Ibrox.
Allardyce stated: “That’d be interesting. If they came and asked me, it would be an honour at Rangers, wouldn’t it? A football club the size of them.
Marco Rose
He has been linked to Rangers due to the 49ers’ ties with Red Bull and the man who once adorned a Celtic scarf and hat after victory at Parkhead was full over the power of Rangers after he felt their wrath when boss of Dortmund.
Russell Martin
The former Ibrox man reckons he will have to look outwith the Premier League for his next gig after being axed by Southampton.
The Record would be as well adding Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot to that list since they have the same hairstyle as Phil Clement and Alex Rae while Mikel Arteta is an obvious candidate since he played for the club that went into liquidation in 2012.
Unusually for the Record Derek McInnes doesn’t get a mention, the current Kilmarnock boss, Billy Davies and Steven Naismith are more realistic candidates than the names listed.
With no takeover and no transfer war-chest it is clear that Ferguson will get the job on a ‘permanent’ basis, sending him back to the Record and Go Radio to snipe at his successor would be high risk for whoever replaces him as manager.
No way should we get worried about any of these dumplings mentioned. Mourinho is over hyped (mostly by himself). Any success he has had was by spending pots of cash. Gerrard was hailed a success with 1 trophy in 3 years. Dyche has just been sacked and the rest are dismal failures too. Ferguson’s short lived success will come crashing down too.
