Celtic fans gave a generally warm welcome to a leaked image of Jota in what appears to be next season’s Celtic second kit.
The dark, dark top with lime green horizontal pinstripes is an instant throwback to the late nineties under Dr Jo Venglos and John Barnes.
Henrik Larsson and Mark Viduka are instantly linked with that kit but there is a dark side, that was the kit Larsson wore when he suffered his leg break away to Lyon in 1999.
Leaked kit images are all part of modern marketing, Celtic’s five year deal with Adidas is about to end but it seems assumed by everyone that a new partnership is simply a case of timing.

There was no great fanfare for that kit at the time it came out but it seems that lukewarm kits from the past are all viewed nostalgically when they resurface a decade or two later.
From around Easter time the thoughts of supporters turn to the kits that their team will be wearing in the new season, Celtic now bring out three first team kits each season with a few other offerings that seem well received by supporters.
For years Celtic fans hoped that the club would turn to Adidas to produce the famous hoops, and the rest- with another treble looking highly possible the famous colours are likely to be all over Scotland this summer as well as the holiday hotspots of sunny Spain.

Personally I don’t think Celtic need an away top (in Scotland anyway) but it’s a cash maker and exciting for fans to buy if they like them…
But Bloody Hell – Hearing of Barnes and Venglos again is the stuff of nightmares for sure…
And also Henrik breaking his leg in that kit was sickening to watch !
