The Sun has joined the Daily Mail in diluting down expectations of an Ibrox takeover.
Late on Wednesday night Calum Crowe of the Daily Mail led with a story of Sandy Easdale having an involvement in the so called takeover but tucked away was a warning that ‘The American’s could walk away’.
Of course it isn’t the actual USA that is involved in the fakeover launched by the Daily Record on February 19, these days it is an unidentified American consortium.
Originally the story was over the San Francisco 49GERS making a multi-million pound investment leading to a summer transfer splurge.
Over the course of two days attention switched to Leeds United/49ers Enterprises then onto Andrew Cavenagh.
Other than quotes from Dave King, who has been trying to shift his 12.96% stake for five years there has been nothing to stand the story up other than wishful thinking from the Record and Sky Sports.
With the Season Ticket renewal campaign well under way the ‘takeover’ story has served its purpose, now it seems that some legacy publishers are bracing the bears for another let-down.
Jackson is confident that the deal will be completed this month, when he broke the story it was at an advanced stage with talks having opened in October. Now The Sun is hedging their bets with ‘late May’ the likely date, less than a month before pre-season starts for the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
Picking up on the story in the Daily Mail, The Sun reports:
We told you back in March how legal papers had been submitted and were under review by all parties and SunSport understands there are NO problems with any transactions which have been agreed.
Late May has emerged as a potential completion date for the deal.
Dave King and John Bennett are among those believed to be willing to sell their stake as part of the multi million pound deal by 49 Enterprises.
Ex-chairman Bennett is also ready to end his financial association with Gers and offload his shares – which stand at just over 7 per cent – to the Americans.
King and Bennet combined own 20% of the club shares, some way short of the threshold to wield any significant power, King can’t even get a seat on the Board and was ignored when he pleaded to succeed Bennett as Chairman.
Of course no-one has approached Douglas Park for his views on the exciting takeover, engineered in South Africa as King’s legacy for the club that he hasn’t watched in more than a year.
A phone call to Park, who with 11.54% of the shares is the second largest player at Ibrox, might just kill the story stone dead with Season Ticket holders in for full on austerity next season in a bid to turn around a club expected to record £40m of losses over two seasons while watching Celtic become Scotland’s Most Successful Club.
At 12.30pm on Thursday the Record has still to share the bad news from the Daily Mail with their army of readers.

Dink Donk Dink Donk Dink Donk Dink Donk !!!
I think I can smell shite….
Yes I can definitely smell shite…??
I think in this case the word KEECH would be more apt.
I think cavanagh is a chancer on a freebie ride.
By way of an example of renewable energy, it could be said that enough wind and pish comes out of the Scottish Legacy Media to power a town the size of Larkhall…..
The future’s bright – the future’s green!
As I posted previously if the FAKEOVER was to take place, they will be holding until we win the treble then announce it to take the headlines away from us and our achievement for them to get all the glory of the FAKEOVER.
Another scenario could well be they are playing a cagey game to see how successful they are in the Europa league before the FAKEOVER mob make a move, win it they are all in,lose it and they will be Joe The Toff.
Exactly! If there is no champions league mega dollars they will run away … either that or offer to buy the whole thing for a single dollar
In the recap article (re WORLD EXCLUSIVE) he’s managed to squeeze in:
1 x potential, 1 x potentially, 2 x if’s, 1 x could, 1 x would, and finally, last but not least, 1 x believed……
Now in an eight sentence article, that is impressive, especially from a muppet like Keef…….
HH
I find this piece of his report a bit interesting
(Ex-chairman Bennett is also ready to end his financial association)
with Gers and offload his shares – which stand at just over 7 per cent – to the Americans.
He already states in the paragraph before this that Bennett and King are looking to sell
Their shares , so why the need to add it again on the end of the bit I put in brackets
Was it to attempt to hide the bit about Bennett cutting financial ties .
IIRC Bennett is owed £10m due to be paid in June..Think it was owed at the same time last year and they agreed to carry it over to this year .
If Bennett wants out and his £10m back they’d be in trouble big time
Aye but IF his mammy COULD have a cock, POTENTIALLY she WOULD be his daddy…
But she doesn’t so it’s BELIEVED that she isn’t !!!
Like ?? from a sinking ?
Guys like Devlin of the Sun ..total theRangers fanatics have been quieter than a church mouse during this caper. If there was any substance to this tale of woe he would have been all over it like sauce on a chicken Madarse(sic).
Is Devlin no a Celtic-ey name Valentines…
Obviously I’ve never heard of him / her !
There’s nae “could” about it.
Due diligence has probably had them shit their pants.
This is a genuine question but do the Americans know that it isn’t “Rangers” they would be buying but a club started by Charles Green in 2012.
It’s alright people believing they are the same club but officially the business title would be The Rangers International Club or whatever.
It may not matter to them as it is the “blue pound” they are interested in but it is interesting.
You also have to ask why a supposed Catholic Family who own the 49’s would wish to promote the hatred and bias against their religion in a little country like Scotland.
Suppose The DR just has to decide on the preferred cover,
under which to release the sad story that the RIFC takeover just ain’t happening?
Maybe during the Scottish Cup Final, during a particular ‘bad news day’,
or maybe the good old fashioned, late on a Friday night release?
Jackson had zero credibility before this nonsense story:
The DR deserves to go the wall – sooner rather than later. 🙂
