Barry Ferguson claimed that his side were denied two penalties in their Europa League exit from Athletic Bilbao.

The match officials were appointed by UEFA, not the SFA. Referee Irfan Peljto isn’t a member of the Lanarkshire Referees Association, he wouldn’t recognise Andrew Dallas in an ID parade.

Early in the match Cyriel Dessers fell in the penalty box pointing to his ripped Castore shirt.

Chasing an equaliser the ball brushed off the hand of a Bilbao defender before falling to Nicky Raskin to shot against the goalkeeper and onto the post from close range.

Alan Muir or John Beaton would certainly have recommended pitchside VAR checks but the Bosnian officials decided to apply the laws of the game.

We should have had two penalties. The first one changes the dynamic of the game.

It’s a clean pull on Cyriel and a clear red card. If they go down to ten men that changes the full game and it baffles me at times some of the decisions.

Then the second one, in the second-half with Nico, when the defender’s hand is out and the ball strikes it. That’s another penalty.

The fourth official wasn’t willing to speak to me and I wasn’t going to get a booking myself. Then Cyriel comes off to change his strip and gets a yellow card when he throws it.

Look, I’m not going to tip-toe around it, everybody in this room and everybody who watched it knows it was a penalty kick and a red card.

So it’s do disappointing that the referee hasn’t made the right decision but the second one is clear as day as well.

Before Nico strikes it, it clearly hits the player’s hand. It’s frustrating we didn’t get both penalties.

Leon Balogun and Ridvan Yilmaz picked up injuries last night and look like joining Dujon Sterling on the sidelines for the rest of the season, on the plus side Robin Propper will be available for the post-split dead rubbers.

Ferguson now has five meaningless matches to deal with while his media pals push for him to get the job as manager on a permanent basis.

Always cheated never defeated, never any recognition of their conquerors as they cannot accept anybody should ever be beating the. We have seen it after every Glasgow Derby, disallowed goals for them, allowed goals for us, the League Cup non awarded penalty that the press kept running with for ages. Getting boring.

They should be more worried about keeping second place and also how they will be equipped for next season. That will see loanees like Cerny returning to their clubs, loanees such as Cifuentes, Matondo returning to them, Hagi, Lawrence and others out of contract leaving for zilch etc.

Unless the takeover happens they will be sitting with massive debts so no money to replace their duds, assuming they can offload them. So penalties are the least of their worries

Of course the old QEII – Mr Keevins of the badly hurting daily Record , pointed out precisely that it was pre – ordained that theRangers would beat Bilbao and go on to win the Europa League ….oops ! Imagine a daily Record sports scoop making a fool of himself with wrong and pathetic predictions and assessments? Who would have thunk it ?

The nest result of the season so far, then watching Captain Disappointed getting caught snoozing once again from a player running behind him to score the second goal.
Wee Chesney(Coronation Street)Yilmaz going off as well didn’t even know he was playing.
So no Ronaldo Raskin showing up to BAIL them out with all that quality play of his,no Morrocan Messi showing up that teams through the EPL and Europe are looking to blag off sevco either, apparently the new klub from ibrox got denied 2 penalties,I could have watched this game all night with the amount of BITCHING going on from players ex-players now commentators/pundits and their manager wee Benny himself.
But the best of them all was Swally McMoist, screaming for penalties demanding players get sent off from Bilbao for the same things he screwmed about last week, apparently the rule book should have torn up last week the rules wrong was screaming,7 days later he’s screaming forcthe same rule book to be applied for the benefit of sevco.
I blame the schools, and probably the fact fat Swally sounds as if he is constantly pissed out his nut,I’m convinced at some point in the future there will be words at the bottom of the screen coming up so we can understand what he is slabbering out his mouth definitely an alcohol issue with that JAKEBALL.

I thought it was a pen but hey ho, welcome to our World.
TBH, I think the standard in the Europa is pretty poor, some mediocre players strutting their guff, explains the Thems getting to a 1/4.
Anywho, what’s wee Bazza’s fringe aw about?!

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

If that’s Celtic I’d be wanting a penalty for sure, for absolute sure…

But he threw himself down so theatrically the ref never bought it at all thankfully –

Once again their schooled cheating failed them badly when it actually need’nt have done…

Ain’t Karma such a bitch at times – Nah not when it comes to Sevco it’s not !

  • Kelly1962 says:

Castore kit is a joke….i ripped off like a sheet of toilet paper….not lime them to whinge and moan though. Funny they get red cards and pens awarded against them in Europe but nothing of the sort at home

  • TonyB says:

Sevco – always cheated never defeated.

  • Bhoy4life says:

Thats the problem, this lot are so used to being reffed “ the scottish way” that they dont recognise the laws of the game being applied properly.
As Dean Martin once sang….” When the defender snags yer tap….and it rips cos its crap….thats Castore……

“Everyone in this room knows it’s a penalty and a red card” he says. Interesting that not one of the people in taht room cared to tell him the double jeopardy has been changed; a penalty does not result in a red card !!!

  • Bob (original) says:

Aye, alright Bazza – you were ‘cheated’!

It’s going to be very interesting to see how many bears can be @rsed going to ibrox now,

for their remaining, dead rubber games?

And if our team actually turns up at ibrox and humps them, then the bears in-fighting

will be an additionally entertaining end to the season! 🙂

      Re the penalty decision
Dessers is one of if not the worse diver in Scottish football
He is forever throwing himself to the ground looking for fouls and penalties,so much so that even his own supporters complain about his antics .
For me the guy is a cheat pure and simple
Maybe his reputation proceeded him last night and the officials were wary of his antics ,if so ,karma’s a bitch .

Just for the record I think he dives when he realises the keeper is going to get to the ball

      • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

He’ll do it in The Glasgow Derby and likely get one Fergus…

You heard it here first a fortnight in advance !!!

  • Marie says:

What he meant to say was if this game was played in Scotland with Scottish referees we would have got 2 penalties and enough extra time to score the winner. I don’t watch them but hope they were denied penalties. Some karma that?
