Marcus Gill has made a big impact during his emergency loan at Inverness Caley Tistle, rising to the challenge in the club’s greatest hour of need.
The young Celt was sent out on loan to the Highland side on April 17 with his senior debut coming two days later away to Stenhousemuir
Caley Thistle looked doomed to successive relegation’s when they went into administration in October and were docked 25 points.
Manager Duncan Ferguson was the first casualty of administration with former Celtic youth team player Scott Kellecher again put in charge as caretaker boss.
Caley Thistle clawed their way back from the relegation spot, partly helped by Dumbarton going into administration but the Relegation Ply Off place was a possibility when Gill made his debut away to Stenhousemuir.
A 1-1 draw at Ochilview kept them in the hunt to avoid the drop, on Sturday Gill followed that up with a clean sheet in the 3-0 win at home to Champions Arbroath.
That win has achieved more than League One survival, it has allowed the club to plan ahead through a CVA with League One football secured and a fighting chance of promotion next season
On Monday ICT announced:
The Joint Administrators were delighted to see the club secure League One safety on Saturday. This is a testament to everyone involved at the club and something all should feel very proud about.
Now that this has been clarified, the Administrators intend to hold a meeting on Thursday 22nd May to propose a Company Voluntary Arrangement for the creditors’ consideration.
If the CVA proposal is approved, it will allow the club to exit Administration and retain its place in League One.
Significant progress has been made to fulfil the key conditions of the offer made by Mr Savage, namely:
– 100% of the voting shares to be transferred to his purchasing vehicle
– All loan creditors to be written off
– Agreement with Inverness Caledonian Thistle Property Company to purchase land around the stadium
However, these conditions need to be in place prior to the meeting and we would encourage all shareholders in particular to complete and return their stock transfer forms as soon as possible.
Celtic now face the tricky task of trying to place Gill for next season, a loan deal to a League One side would be ideal to give him a taste of football at the cutting edge.
Already the young keeper is a regular in the Ireland u-19 side but with his Academy days closed the next step up into the senior game is critical for his continuing development.

From a Clachnacuddin FC supporter – Good luck to them but hope they cut their cloth according to their means going forward…
And get rid of that Sevco loving cunt Gardner !
“Celtic now face the tricky task of trying to place Gill for next season……….”
FFS Celtic (PLC) open your eyes and minds to the stunningly obvious. The Lowland League was NEVER the place for talented ‘kids’.
Scottish Championship, Leagues 1/2 maybe. But England’s Championship and Leagues 1/2 should be sought out too. All according to ability/potential.
I live in England and about 18 months ago I went to watch our local EFL 2 team, with my son (played for this team) and grandson, playing Man U’s youngsters. Garnacho! He stood out. Anyone with any kind of football mind/history could see it. So, from EFL 2 to Man U’s 1st team squad in under 2 years. FFS, Celtic PLC, look at what’s in front of you and START getting something right and getting Lawwell tae fukk would be an excellent beginning.
Hail! Hail! The Glasgow Celtic FC and fukk it’s (PLC) board and owners!
I remember Celtic and West Ham youth teams were the places you wanted to be as a youngster.
They were a top tier nursery for future stars and you got a shot at the first team.
Now at Celtic at least you play against weekend warriors not professionals.
You will be talked about as a superstar the next (insert ridiculous player comparison here) but you will be lucky to make a handful of substitute appearances before being sold for a development fee to an English team if you are good or sent to the Irish league to disappear into obscurity.
Varta, Karamoko, Cummings, Hickey, you can add Robertson and Given and many other we talked up but then watched as they walked out and another club get the benefit of the time and money we put in to develop them.
At this point why do we bother with a youth team? Cal Mac and James Forrest were the last to come through and payback the time and effort we put in.
It angers me that we can’t afford a youth/reserve team when these are the ones that could come through and make money and memories for this club but we can afford a women’s team that will never make the club money. in fact it causes losses and never benefits the club.
Be honest. The USA womans team wins world cups and Olympics but regularly get slaughtered by under 14 local boys sides and veterans.
Stop the virtue signalling. Professional sports should be a meritocracy. I want to know we are fielding the best players we could afford week in and week out. The money spent on making sure someone gets on the park just because they possess a vigina would be better spent finding and developing young male players that can get bums of seats money in the kitty, a nice transfer fee and bring the reputation of the club up to where it was 20 odd years ago.
Women should start their own league and work with the revenue derived from their product through gate receipts and sponsors. Not cost our club a valid youth pathway.
Bullshit. Women were banned from playing until recently and you want to ditch our under funded women’s team. I hope you don’t have daughters with an attitude like that. Why do you hate “viginas” so much?
