BILBAO, SPAIN - MAY 21: Ange Postecoglou, Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, lifts the UEFA Europa League Trophy after his sides victory in the UEFA Europa League Final 2025 between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at Estadio de San Mames on May 21, 2025 in Bilbao, Spain. Ange Postecoglou steered Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League against Manchester United in Bilbao.
A scrappy goal from Brennan Johnson with an assist off the arm of Luke Shaw separated the two teams over 99 dreadful minutes.
The lack of quality won’t bother Postecoglou who has been taunted by the media and many Spurs fans about the failings of his side who are in 17th place in the EPL with 38 points from 37 matches.
In his pre-match media conference the former Celtic boss called out a reporter who had claimed that he would be a clown or hero dependent on the result of the match.
Coming from Celtic having previously managed in Australia and Japan Postecoglou was looked on as some sort of oddity by much of the English media, tonight he is the first Australian to have managed his side to a European trophy.

As well as the silverware Spurs have booked a place in next season’s Champions League, becoming the sixth EPL side to do so.
Whether Postecoglou remains in charge is unclear but he has done what Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Nuno Santo and Mauirico Pochettino failed to do by taking a trophy to Tottenham.
There will be no European football next season for Manchester United with a severe cost cutting exercise likely to be accelerated.
This………….
English media mocked and laughed at him.
He had belief and big bawz in stating his top record. ?
I would love to see him enjoy the adulation he deserves and shun the sycophants who will undoubtedly bow to him now.
You deserve a mic drop exit now Ange. ??? pic.twitter.com/EOHHBl3LGj

Sitting and suffering that fucking clown McCoist thru that was truly awful, he made it pretty clear who he wanted to win throughout, so well done Ange for shutting that particular choob up, along with all the other English media who wanted u oh so badly to fail just to prove their own superiority.
No doubt they’ll be sycophancy but don’t u dare allow it AP.
I tried turning the sound down on the TV and listening to the radio commentary instead – but they were out of sync so it was even more annoying than listening to Jabba treating us to all his usual cliches – “I’ll tell you something, Fletch…”
When Ange was announced as the new Celtic manager many in Scotland, not all of them Ibrox leaning, couldn’t wait to get their ill informed tuppence worth out there. Among the car crash opinions were those of the relentlessly wrong Hugh Keevins, with his Absolutely Not Good Enough clanger. Then there was the excruciating exchange between “Celtic man” Alan Brazil and that slobbering gimp Coishty, where both tried
to ridicule Ange based on their appalling lack of information about the guy and also their semi literate interpretation of his surname. Sleekit went out of his way on TNT tonight to feign pleasure at Postecoglou effectively presenting him with his arse on a plate.
Ended up watching it on a Saudi channel. Anything was better than listening to that fffg illiterate fat swally. Even though the commentators were Saudi, you still managed to make out they were watching a p@sh game of football. All the best ange
So pleased for angeball. Stuffed their words and taunts right back down there throats. Well done. A sportsman and a gentleman.

Brilliant Ange and delighted for ya – MATE !
Choke on that then Keevins – Ya fuckin coffin dodging old dottery bastard…
A – Absoloutly…
N – Nobley…
G – Good…
E – Enough…
Lol don’t hold back Clach tell us what uou really think.
Really piss poor game of football…played by two piss poor teams…and topped off by really piss poor commentary….especially by Fat Sally…What a FUD….As for Ange..??
I don’t forget how he left us….I wish him no ill…but no compliments from me.
Big baws ange, you shut up all those English people who thought managing Cetic was easy, as nobody recognises the SPFL in Scotland,
glad to see you have shoved it right up them tonight, better than winning the League Cup or FA Cup, it wouldn’t have gotten you into the Champions league, so really happy for all you did for us at Celtic when you were there, we never stop, Hail Hail.
On ” ange” couldn’t give a dam the guy could wait to go to the ” epl mate”! Living in Australia as I have on and off for years he just part of tgat weird obsession they have of that over hype league, and tgat even ones that don’t even like football! ” soccer ” to those weirdos
Ange maybe should walk away now,
on his own terms,
and with hiss head held high?I
…because the Spursy expectation is that it will be another 17 years before they win another trophy…? ?
I will never forget him leaving as well with the treble in the cabinet five trophies out of six he signed players that were a joy to watch also the way he treated the gutless sevco media well done ange as a celtic fan I wish you all the best thanks again.
Aye that’s the huns but tell you what ,no hun would ever and i mean ever! Utter that poison in front of me no chance , andin a barbers or not ! Surely your brother piped up, I would have destroyed them with my wit and sheer presence
he waited until the end of the season when the treble was delivered born and bred celtic men have left the club to go down south and some left long before the mega tv money was there. he had no affinity with celtic when he arrived but became a big favourite with the fans. he gave us kyogo, hatate, maeda, johnson, ccv, jota, mooy, abada, he took over a complete shambles and turned it all around. everyone is entitled to an opinion but how any celtic fan if they are fans ? can be critical of him is baffling to say the least. sorry for the rant joe but there it is.
apologies for missing out hart and juranovic.
During his glorious winning tenure at Celtic FC , not one Scottish scoop ever got the better of big Ange with their snide and loaded questions ! He saw them coming from 100 yards out and had them all tucked away in his back pocket , keeping the cheeks of his arse warm ! His superior intellect , intelligence and knowledge of the game – world wide , irked more than a few of them ..yet he very rarely came out of second gear when they attempted to interview him . He chopped them up like firewood …and every single one of them knew it ! He just never stops ….the Post man delivered once again !
