Celtic appear set to change their third choice goalkeeper with Ross Doohan replacing Scott Bain.
The former Dundee ‘keeper failed to play any first team minutes in the season just finished while Doohan started 14 SPFL Premiership matches and three cup ties for Aberdeen.
It seems a fairly straightforward swap in terms of a 33-year-old leaving and being replaced by a 27-year-old, ticking a UEFA box in terms of home produced players.
While Bain qualifies as SFA trained Doohan ticks two boxes as SFA and club trained.
In the bigger picture the deal will have little impact on next season unless Kasper Schmeichel and Vil Sinisalo are both out injured at the same time.
Celtic are set to sign Aberdeen goalkeeper Ross Doohan this summer.
It’s understood the 27yo, who started his career with the Hoops, has agreed terms for a return when his contract expires at the Dons.

Doohan enjoyed two good seasons early on in his career at Ayr Utd, helping Ian McCall’s side to win League One then reach the Premiership Play Off with Lawrence Shankland one of his team-mates.
Ironically Ayr brought in Sinisalo on loan for season 20-21 while Doohan had brief stints out on loan at Ross County and Dundee United while Conor Hazard got his chance to shine for Celtic.
Spells at Tranmere and Forest Green Rovers followed with Doohan’s transfer cycle set to be completed with a Celtic return in the coming weeks.

Scott Bain,
Leaves parkhead with bag a medals
And large sack of money actually more money than Lisbon lions all together.
Signed by BR. 17/18 To replace Craig Gordon. One of the best goalkeepers in the history of Celtic goalkeepers.
BR wants his goalkeepers to play the ball out. With great feet like his defenders..
Big Craig. Didn’t fit the bill..
On Saturday in the first 7 minutes his left sided defender who he has tried to replace 3 times, one sitting on the bench costing 6.5 M. Was caught out dreaming into silly mistakes…
Best of luck to Scott, probably on his way
With his large pension to the nearest bank.
Make your own mind up who’s the better goalkeeper.
Bain or Douglas..
Still don’t get it with Bain….My memories of him..in the main…are positive …Thought he was a good keeper…Don’t think he was treated fairly…But then that happens a lot at our Club…Just my opinion.
Terence don’t know about you ,but the I think the treatment of nawrocki is disgusting, any time he’s played or had game time has never let us down, wasn’t even on the bench on Saturday, scales and trusty are not nearly the player nawrocki is but he gets overlooked for those two, Rodgers obviously doesn’t like him.but likes should be overlooked if it benefits the team
Big Rab for me was better than Scott, he took us along with a great Celtic team to Seville that puts him ahead of Scott Bain. Good luck on your next venture wherever it takes you Scott HH
John, With the greatest respect
Douglas is the worst alleged goalkeeper in the history CFC.
He cost us a treble in 2003.
As For Bain he’s not far behind him.
Sorry guys the worst keeper is Ian Andrews bar none.
Jeez Aye – Total nightmare STILL from 37 years ago !
I see Caoimhin Kelleher is on the way out at liverpool ?
