It seems that there was at least one Celtic fan deep inside the Copland Road Stand at Ibrox on Sunday.

Just before the hour mark Adam Idah popped the ball past Liam Kelly to equalise for Celtic.

Or did he?

Assistant referee Dougie Potter might have missed Nico Raskin being offside for a first half ‘goal’ but he wasn’t going to miss out for a second time.

Up went the flag, Nick Walsh seemed to agree but with Idah’s celebrations cut short attention turned to Andrew Dallas on VAR duty for his verdict.

For the best part of two minutes the scoreline was suspended, no squiggly lines were required because Daizen Maeda was obviously in an offside position.

But was he interfering with play, was he is Kelly’s eyeline?

NO- the goal counts, Celtic are level.

While Vil Sinisalo cleared missiles from the pitch Idah ran towards the corner of the stadium housing 2,000 Celtic supporters,

The camera closes in on the celebrations, effectively the phrase is LIMBS as bodies bounced around in celebration.

The origin of the clip isn’t known but it was a brave hand that captured the special moment, managing to zoom in on scenes of celebration while anger and dejection was all around.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Bill Shankly once said if I put a player on the pitch he better be interfering with the play.
The offside rule has to be rewritten as Maeda had to be in the keeper’s thoughts.

I would make it there has to be daylight between the last defender and the forward to be offside which would give advantage to the attacker and rightly so.

    Much easier to see.

That VAR didn’t look at the penalty caused by Diomande was outright cheating.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

It was a helluva relief when the goal eventually stood !
