In December Daezen Maeda’s well placed penalty won the League Cup for Celtic to kill off the ridiculous claim that they were The Most Successful Club in the World.
It could be fully mocked as the painters and decorators quietly moved in to Ibrox and Murray Park.
In April another myth was burst when Celtic became champions of Scotland for a 55th time, another porky kicked firmly into touch.
On Sunday, for many proud bears another blow was received to their bizarre superiority contest- 200 Celtic fans inside Ibrox erupted with joy as Simply The Best boomed out over the Ibrox tannoy.
Since the early nineties when Dave Murray was in his pomp throwing other peoples money at footballers to the acclaim of the obliging local media Simply The Best has been a beloved Ibrox anthem, a statement that extended to more than footballing matters.
We’ve absolutely ruined this song for them now, there’s no way they can continue playing that as teams come out ? https://t.co/RUdHEfZpaD

At weddings, christenings, special events and anniversaries they cherished that song, a calling card much more public than a funny handshake.
Even the most introverted bear would out their selves when that song was played, a smile would break out, knowing smiles exchanged as they made themselves known while Celtic supporters slipped into the background.
Their badge of honour, a rallying call that they were among their own. But not any more.
Celtic fans did more than send up the song that generations of Ibrox fans have nodded at and sang along to. Especially the add on’s, just in case anyone doubted what the song really meant.
There are two home matches left this season at Ibrox, early next season the champions will be back at Ibrox as they race after #title56, five-in-a-row for the third time in the lifetime of many Celtic supporters.
Now when the serial losers walk out at Ibrox to that tune the sight and sound of 2,000 Celtic fans will be remembered.
There isn’t much left at Ibrox for the Gullible & Deluded to hang onto but the Loving Cup is safe although there could be a raid on the cherished and much loved St Etienne bike.

Aye but as Ronaldo Raskin said the other day, just wait till next season, when we will mount a challenge be better and win the league.
Lol a think the sevco players take it in turn to make that their war cry.
Now back to the game on Sunday and that banner, when it looked like a gay Yosser Hughes,it made the headlines on STV 6 o’clock news last night, the First Minister spoke about it,Police Scotland are now involved in it,but just WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SFA,ON A SPONSORED SILENCE AGAIN.
Maybe the guy across the water could highlight all of this to UEFA with him having a press pass in all to do something about it because SFA are doing exactly that.
SWEET FUCK ALL.
You’re simply sevco
You’re 12yrs old and we all know
Murray sold you for a pound
Then Craigy put you in the ground.
Ha Ha – Very good indeed !
Follow Follow from Sunday, I think! At least it’s a football song? Unless of course they put their vituperative add on’s to that too.
Maybe they’ll now change their ‘run-out’ tune to “Loving Cup” a track from 1972’s ‘Exile on Main Street’ by The Rolling Stones…… it’s appropriately much more downbeat.
