Stephen McGowan of the Herald has revealed that Tryhys Dolan is one of Celtic’s summer transfer target.
The 23-year-old Blackburn winger is now out of contract after three impressive years playing in The Championship.
With Jota out of contention until towards the end of 2025 at the earliest Brendan Rodgers is expected to be keen to boost his options on each flank.
Speculation of interest in Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn adds to the issue with McGowan reporting in the Herald:
Celtic and Rangers are monitoring the situation of Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan.
Out of contract this summer the 23-year-old was on a list of Parkhead attacking options before the signing of Jota in the January window.
The Portuguese wide player has since undergone surgery on a cruciate ligament injury expected to rule him out until the New Year. Manager Brendan Rodgers admits the club will look to strengthen attacking areas of the team in the summer.
Dolan has yet to commit to a new deal at Ewood Park. Attracting interest from England and abroad Rangers have also asked questions over the situation of the former England under-20 international.
As a free agent at the age of 23 Dolan is in the perfect situation to push his career on.
There is likely to be more lucrative offers available to Dolan but an option from Celtic is likely to be of interest.
In January 2022 Matt O’Riley moved from MK Dons to Celtic, enjoyed three campaigns in the Champions League before earning a big money move to Brighton.
As a free agent the winger won’t require a transfer fee but a hefty signing on fee and top wages will be required to lure Dolan to Celtic.
Raskin and Igamane on their way to Leeds with a figure of £50 million for both being branded about.
Fuck here we go again.
Top wages? That’s not going to work for Lawwell – No deal!
This is why we need to get business moving ASAP. Obviously we want people in early so they get full pre-season and can play in the friendlies to gel with the rest of the team (unlike last summer!!!) and be fully prepared for the all important CL playoff qualifier. That’s a given. If they’re good free transfers that have decent experience and ability, whilst still being young enough to have great sell-on value in a few years, then it should be a no brainer. It’s not like we lack finances!
But then there’s the psychological effect. I doubt they can afford this guy anyway, but he has been linked with them. We get him and a few others in and we look like a well-oiled machine that has nabbed one of their targets and set their planning back while they were in a state of disarray. Imagine it. Your already in a situation where you have no manager and uncertain ownership, which probably means no signings coming in at the start of the window, key players being able to walk away for nowt with their contracts up, and the big matches that are your only chance of CL riches just round the corner. Even a well-run club struggles with preparing for those games coming this early in the summer, so soon after the previous season has ended.
Then throw in reports that (even alleged) targets are being nabbed from under your nose by your big rival, who is streets ahead of you in terms of finances and being able to get deals done, and what does that do for morale? And possibly merchandise sales? Not to mention ticket sales for friendlies and the big TavPen Testimonial.
Where has this come from. Its crap. Not on any list or any options mcgowan is wrong again
