To the surprise of no-one outside of Ibrox, Davide Ancelotti has walked away from the opportunity to manage the Ibrox Tribute Act formed by Charles Green in 2012.
Inside football it is known as doing a McInnes, Ibrox fans have a more vulgar term that sounds like hat and mat.
On Monday evening it seemed like a done deal for the Brains Behind Carlo as the Record and others messengers explored every possible angle to big up a 35-year-old rookie that has never played a competitive game or done anything more than manage the bibs and cones in training sessions.
Jude Bellingham and Luka Modric quotes were dug out to explain what an incredible scoop the ‘takeover kings’ had pulled off.
Thousands of bears fell for it, again, with Barry Ferguson pure ragin when he was asked about the foreigner at Tuesday’s media conference ahead of playing Dundee United.
Now the bubble has been burst with the Daily Record admitting:
Rangers next manager favourite Davide Ancelotti appears set to pass up the shot of Ibrox as he stands poised to join dad Carlo with Brazil for the long haul.
A bombshell report out of Madrid has revealed both Ancelotti Sr and Jr will stick together with Le Selecao and will link-up beyond the two pre-agreed games against Paraguay and Ecuador – both vital for Brazil’s hopes of rubber-stamping their place in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Now Rangers are set to focus on other targets with Ancelotti Jr – long admired by the 49ers Enterprises and and Kevin Thelwell – is now in position to make history as he and Carlo aim to end Brazil’s 24-year wait for World Cup glory and become the first father and son to do so.
Ancelotti Junior can now expect his reputation to be trashed by the Scottish media, no longer is he the most exciting young coach in European football, a title previously held by Micky Beale.
With Derek McInnes on his way to Hearts it looks to be a straight choice between Ferguson and Davie Martindale to slip on the blazer and brogues for next season.
Remember, on February 19 when the Record broke the WORLD EXCLUSIVE story of the San Francisco 49GERS takeover talks were at an advanced stage.
The original report from Ondacero revealed:
Davide Ancelotti will remain alongside his father for at least another year. Just when it seemed the time had come to embark on his solo coaching career, the Brazilian project proved too lucrative to abandon his father, and he will remain in the duo with Carlo until at least the summer of 2026 , when the World Cup will be held in the United States and Mexico.
Everyone around the Ancelottis assumed the time had finally come to take the plunge and make a name for himself away from his father’s shadow, but the magnitude of his father’s project, once again, and the lack of “big” opportunities have postponed Davide’s desire to start a new phase of his life without Carlo’s tutelage.
Fábregas’ renewal with Como in the Italian Serie A was the trigger for a decision that had already been made in recent weeks.
Carlo Ancelotti is taking with him the entire coaching staff that accompanied him at Valdebebas on a daily basis, with the exception of Antonio Pintus, the Club’s fitness coach, and Luis Llopis, the goalkeeping coach, who will continue his work with Xabi Alonso when he begins his time as manager at the helm of Real Madrid in just 15 days.
There was also speculation that the Ancelotti family, or at least Carlo and his wife, would stay in their Madrid residence, or even return to London to his wife’s house, and travel to Brazil to work with the Canarinha when necessary, but Carletto has decided to move to Rio de Janeiro from now on.
Not a single mention of the Ibrox vacancy, Davide is still waiting on a big opportunity.
Davide Ancelotti has offers from several clubs amid interest from Rangers.

The only thing to say about the ‘boy Davide’ is: how did he work at Real Madrid
with world class players, when he had zero credibility?
Just Daddy’s boy – in his mid-30’s!
That level of nepotism is rarely seen at footy clubs…erm, except ours… 🙂
And just as well Davide didn’t really have to make that tough choice: Brazil or sevco?
At least the SMSM have managed to shoe-horn “sevco, Real Madrid and Brazil” into the same articles for a couple of weeks!
At least our Scottish churnalists are highly creative? Mince, but creative.
Joe
Again !
Please stop the Martindale stuff . You will just get ridiculed when the 49ers produce Jurgen Klopp??? in a few weeks .
Actually i am praying they come in .
Marie Denise de Bartolo York the largest RC corporate philanthropist in America ( as awarded by the Catholic charities of America )…as you point out has just sold some of her 93% 49ers equity for $365m
Heres hoping she puts a few dollars to her much rumoured new latest RC conversion project in Scotland ????
Reaction will be epic when the truth outs
Is it at all possible that the tribute act may do a ‘ Maurice Johnston ‘ with the biggest fraud coach in Scottish football – McInnes , now that Ancelotti junior has flipped the bird to theRangers ? By all accounts Hearts have produced problems for their own club by using this dud as coach for next season ! So , if the Ibroxland board decide to turn the ‘ boat over ‘ and charm Del boy at the eleventh hour to fill the vacancy left by Mrs Ferguson’s husband, would you be surprised ? I know it was the Mark 1 version of clumpany which did the dirty for Johnston…but old habits die hard !
As if he would pass up the chance to help coach brazil to history. Gawd please let it be the ned.
Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Sevco….
Thanks but no fuckin thanks !
Who needs a dodgy firestick when u get entertainment like this?
Brilliant!
Hmm. Chilling out on Copocabana beach or going for a daytrip doon the watter on the Waverly? It must have been a tough decision.
Hail Hail.
