Andy Newport seems to have become a bit of a dissident inside the Daily Record Sports Team.
While Keith Jackson broadly keeps banging the drum for the takeover that he described as being at an advanced stage in his February 19 WORLD EXCLUSIVE it seems that some of his colleagues are doubting the wisdom of the veteran reporter.

He could be in for a long wait to find out, with the club’s new US owners still a month away from finalising their American revolution and a decision on who will be managing the team next term still up in the air.
But asked if he was prepared to hang fire in the hope a deal will eventually be put on the table, he said: “I think I have no choice.
I’m very blessed that my father from a young age taught me the value of patience.
“So, I’m just going to have patience as always, as I’ve had all my life, with many things and then I just have to see what’s happening.
“It’s hard to say if or when that will happen, because it’s not in my control. I don’t know at what stage the whole thing is.
Later on Newport adds:
Balogun is unsure of what part he might play next season but he is keen to see what Andrew Cavenagh and his allies from the San Francisco 49ers have lined up as they prepare to sweep to power in Govan.
Despite their recent fawning walkabout Cavenagh and his consortium have body-swerved Ibrox for two consecutive home matches.
With the alleged takeover falling apart Balogun is very likely to get a new season long deal as he prepares for life under Ferguson when those July Champions League qualifiers come round.
With print circulation barely above 40,000 if the 49GERS takeover fails to go through the impact on Record readers and circulation figures could be catastrophic.

Inaction Jackson – the ‘ chief sports scoop ‘ at the daily Record , is looking rather worse for wear these days ! Almost as if he’s been on some sort of booze bender and is suffering the biggest , horrendous hangovers in alcohol history . These fancy ‘ up to the minute ‘ cameras show no mercy either ! Especially when the after effects of drinking , leaves permanently damaged features on the boat race. There’s obviously no budget for a ‘ make – up ‘ section at the dwindling Record rag , to try and make him look ‘ half presentable ? A ‘ special effects ‘ department would be more appropriate ! Was sevco honest during the interview process,

Just listening to the podcast & when you were speaking about the OO walk in Stonehaven. You are correct that due to community complaints that the council approval was revoked & they were told not to do it.
What you might have missed is that they carried out the walk anyway regardless of what they were told. They think they are untouchable & from the aftermath of that I think the councils do little to change that perception.
