Derek McInnes is the new bookies favourite to become the next permanent manager at Ibrox.

The 53-year-old has been strongly linked with joining Hearts but the Ibrox speculation throws a massive spanner in the works.

The odds on becoming the next manager at any club are very volatile, a small amount of money can quickly impact the odds but McInnes is now the 2/1 favourite.

Tonight’s news could be a way of forcing the issue at Tynecastle- or Ibrox.

McInnes famously snubbed the chance to succeed Pedro Caixinha as manager in 2018, it is understood that Walter Smith urged him against working under Chairman Dave King.

Since then the former West Brom and Dundee United midfielder has been the subject of anger from Ibrox fans, accusing him of lacking the bottle to take on the Ibrox job.

McInnes is about to finish his third season in the SPFL Premiership in charge of Kilmarnock after taking them to promotion in 2022.

Last season they qualified for Europe but that has taken a toll on them this season where they have been in the bottom four all along although last week’s win away to St Johnstone should keep them out of the relegation play-off.

I think it’s obvious that none of those quoted will get the ‘job’. (Jobby, they are shite)
It must be extremely difficult for ‘everyone/anyone’ to maintain a huge, mythical lie.
So, back to basic recruitment protocols. They need a “real rangers” man.
He/she must be of a similar status to the ‘club’ they’re joining.
Nae question then. It’s Scott Symon or Walter Smith.
Real ‘rangers’ men with the correct status: deid men managing a deid ‘club’.
    Fukkin Zombies.
What (more) could possibly go wrong over ‘there’?
Much I hope. Hell slap it intae thum
