The Daily Record really has lost the plot over the alleged Ibrox takeover.

When Scott Burns discovered Financial Sustainability Regulations on Tuesday night it marked a change in direction- but not completely.

The Record’s Army of Readers need to be given some hope of good times next season with the hype for the 49ers Enterprises still featuring.

Sometimes FSR and the hype and hysteria are able to make it into the same article which probably leaves readers with a dizzy feeling.

With mid-June now the earliest that the fakeover will be completed there is going to be some incredible concepts to grasp.

On Thursday morning Lawrence Shankland was included among five SPFL free agents that could be taken to Ibrox and converted into £15m stars as part of the Player Trading Model.

Throwing all aspects together Andy Newport managed to touch all bases with today’s classic for Record readers:

Dave King set alarm bells ringing amongst the Rangers?support when he claimed the club’s American revolution might not be signed and sealed until the middle of next month – just days before the Ibrox squad are due to begin their summer preparations.

That spread fear through the Light Blue legions that a team that has finished miles behind bitter rivals Celtic this term could be left trailing again – and this time before a ball is even kicked.

The clock is certainly ticking and a lot of work still to be done to make a failing side competitive.

But Record Sport understands the club’s new US owners are ploughing on with plans to appoint Philippe Clement’s permanent replacement, even if Andrew Cavenagh?and his partners from the San Francisco 49ers have yet to officially take ownership of the keys to the club.

CEO Patrick Stewart told supporters at his recent fans forum appearance that the new custodians had been consulted whilst appointing Everton’s Kevin Thelwell to his new sporting director’s role in Glasgow.

And they will have a major say again going forward as Stewart and Thelwell work their way through a list of potential managers.

Gretar Steinsson, the 49ers’ football expert, has been a regular figure at Ibrox in recent weeks alongside Cavenagh and will also be involved in drawing up a shortlist of potential candidates.

Steinsson was nowhere near Ibrox on Sunday for the visit of Celtic despite last week’s carefully staged walkabout for a Daily Record camera crew.

With Leeds busy preparing for their return to the EPL Steinsson and Paraag Marathe will have their hands full with the Yorkshire club.

The creative minds at the Record will be equally busy conjuring up good news stories as the days tick by with no manager and no takeover as the clocks ticks towards the Champions League qualifiers starting on July 22/23 and 29/30.

Barry Ferguson could be back at the Record next month, sharing his expert thoughts on how to end The Banter Years.

He has been touted as the next Southampton manager for months. He was a former assistant manager there under Hassenhutl. He is also well liked within the Red Bull stable and with the manager merry go round about to happen in Germany, the odds are pushing him closer to a job over there .. according to reports he hasnt seen his kids as they are at school in Germany, whilst he has been in Sheffield.
