Massive blow for Takeover Kings and pharmaceutical tycoon…

It seems that the Record Sports Desk are under pressure to force an Ibrox angle into a dozen stories a day.

Any manager becoming available anywhere in the world is instantly linked with Barry Ferguson’s job, yesterday it was the turn of Danny Rohl who is expected to leave Sheffield Wednesday.

Absolutely every story from Leeds has to be adapted whether it is stadium expansion or transfer war-chests.

Recently the Consortium has had their status upgraded to Takeover Kings with mystery man Andrew Cavenagh branded a pharmaceutical tycoon.

That term could have some sinister meaning but apparently it is something to do with selling up a Medical Insurance firm. His wealth is firmly off the radar of the Daily Record.

The US consortium behind the Rangers takeover have seen their time slashed to prepare for the new season by Manchester United.

Going into the Europa League second leg with Athletic Bilbao, pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises would have been hoping for a dramatic second leg turnaround as they inch closer to a takeover at Ibrox.

That’s because if Athletic had won the competition at the Sam Mames and finished in a Champions League place in La Liga—which they currently hold—Rangers would have been bumped up to the qualification path and entered the third round due to their coefficient ranking.

That scenario would have given the new owners and the new manager until August 5-6 to prepare the squad for the crucial push towards the league phase.

That is the same stage that Philippe Clement entered the competition last season as they took on Dynamo Kyiv – with pre-season training beginning on July 8.

And we know how they got on against Kyiv.

With this season finishing on May 17 and the Champions League qualifiers starting on July 22/23 and 29/30 the Takeover Kings don’t have too much time to get their Revolution! up and running.

There is still no reaction from Douglas Park, owner of 11.54% of the club shares to the exciting takeover which Dave King claims is 90% completed.

Well, this alleged takeover has been inching along at a snail’s pace since October, we have been told!

Doesn’t exactly make the Yanks look dynamic or aggressive in their dealmaking?

At this rate, it would take the ‘consortium’ until Christmas – at least – just to appoint a manager! 🙂

So in the daily sevco yesterday and today two very different figures being branded about should either we make it to the promised land or sevco regarding playing in the big guys playground of the Champions League.
Should we make it then it will be worth £25-30 million quid to us,but fir some strange reason should it be sevco it’s bumped up to £40 million, fuck knows how they wirk that one out.
I blame the schools, and to think they are letting these so called journalists near scissors and matches.
