The Daily Record has almost thrown in the towel when it comes to exclusively revealing the next manager at Ibrox.
It is almost two weeks since Barry Ferguson got his thanks but no thanks message with a return to the ailing Glasgow publisher waiting on the failed interim boss.
Over that period the Record has worked their army of readers into a frenzy over Steven Gerrard, Davide Ancelotti, Marco Rose, Sean Dyche and Danny Rohl taking charge of the next Revolution.
It is now more than three months since Phil Clement was sacked, in less than seven weeks the club faces a Second Round qualifier in the Champions League but there remains no sign of a successor being fitted out for brogues and blazer.
Rather than criticise the failed process of recruiting a manager the Record is bracing their readers for a left field appointment- just as long as it isn’t the Buddist, vegan that is a member of the Green Party- Russell Martin:
It looks like Davide Ancelotti vs Russell Martin at this stage – but don’t be surprised if someone new emerges from the cold and snatches the Rangers job over the next few days.
That was the warning from our man Scott McDermott on Hotline Live as he teased a ‘new name’ could come to the fore over the next few days.
The hunt for the next boss at Ibrox has been one full of twists and turns. Interim boss Barry Ferguson was among the early frontrunners, and since then it’s veered wildly between Steven Gerrard, Russell Martin and current bookies’ leader Davide Ancelotti.
It’s all happening against the backdrop of the San Francisco 49ers-backed takeover which only complicates matters further, but the noises suggest the search for the next boss is going on independent of that and could even conclude before the American investment is rubber-stamped.
With a LIVE! Blog running there will be plenty more moonbeams and hilarity for Record readers to enjoy over the coming days.

Has Davide Martinjail had a mention yet?
Bud . D. Wallzinger …that’s the guy who might be the American pick for newest head trainer’s position in Ibroxland ? Some dude from Bismarck , North Dakota ! Also known as ‘ coach ! ‘
Martinjail is an appalling vista – a step too far even for the orcs. He would symbolise the utter degradation of the iBrox club that saw it’s former self as being ‘second only to the church of Scotland’ to being a desperate tribute act willing to take a chance by employing a convicted drug dealer. Appointing him would reflect very badly on Scottish football never mind just the club. I’ve said before that the likes of Robbie Neilson or Steven Naismith are in with a shout now they are getting desperate and running the risk of another Pedro Caixinha farce….
I love the bit about the manager search going on independently of the fabled “takeover”. Ermmm … yeah …. the fact that they don’t even have Backup Barry in the hot seat anymore; the fact that said takeover is taking an eternity (and may not even happen) and the fact that CL qualifiers are looming means that shouldn’t really be a big surprise.
Well, it appears that the takeover is complete – according to the media. All done by 2100hrs last night.
There’s nothing about it on the Companies House website: zero updates to either Rangers International Football Club or The Rangers Football Club listings.
It also appears that the new owners are going to continue to blur the lines between RIFC (the holding company where the actual takeover is) & TRFC (the football club & member of the SFA & SPL).
The new owners are talking up a £20m investment: that won’t cover last season’s losses.
It appears that £20m is to come, not in cash, but via a share issue. Roll up! Roll up!
The Scummy Scottish Football Media are Pathological Liars !
Sky Sport have just reported that the 49ers consortium have taken over Sevco buying up 51% of the shares. A new manager and a £20 million transfer war chest to follow. The guy reporting the news from Ibrox was wetting himself. Over to the Celtic Board.
Coincidence that they made 20m out of Europe this year and its gonna b a 20m war chest?
Anyone taking bets on how long the new owners take to say this club has always got the shitty end of the stick or the gullibillies start claiming they are the richest club in Britain now?
“Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce that a consortium of investors, led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, has purchased a majority stake in the club, with approval from the Scottish FA…”
Must admit – assuming the SMSM is actually reporting the truth – I didn’t expect that to happen.
Will be interesting to hear what caused the extensive delay – and if there are any conditions attached to the “majority stake”.
Interesting though.
Now the fun [reality check] really begins at ibrox…? 🙂
£20 million war chest? Hope they don’t sign Cerny but I think he will be first.
The Scummy’s of The Scummy Scottish Football Media are Serial Liars Charlie…
Please don’t listen to them !!!
