Even in the sleazy world of Scottish football it was just too blatant and obvious.
Surely Derek McInnes had better things to do on his Sunday afternoon than sit in the Sky Sports studio at Ibrox and get told how wonderful he is by Kris Boyd.
Putting two and two together you have to say it was intentional with McInnes heavily linked with the vacant manager’s job at Hearts.
Unless the real driving factor was to put the current Kilmarnock boss in the running for a different managerial vacancy, one that is causing a lot of media concern.
Was McInnes at Ibrox as a final reminder to whoever is making the decisions? That there is more than just Barry Ferguson as staunch options for next season’s Revolution?
I get on well with both men in this clip but this is absolutely not a good look. https://t.co/YRabc7VlyZ

It was almost at Jim White and Brian Laudrup levels as Boyd gushed over what an incredible fit has mate Del Boy would be for Hearts. Or maybe somewhere closer to his heart?
The ‘tried and tested’ or ‘safe pair of hands’ label is what would be applied to Walter Smith whenever an Ibrox manager was sinking under expectations.
In January 2007 he accepted the call as the Paul le Guen Revolution was ditched in exchange for a more traditional form of management.
With the 49ers again noted by their absence from Ibrox yesterday the likelihood of a staunch austerity manager being needed is growing by the day.
If it’s not to be Ferguson perhaps another of Boyd’s pals is sitting by the phone with the guarantee of full media buy-in if McInnes makes the move that he was expected to take after Pedro Caixinha was sacked.

Who pays for Sky certainly not me I refuse to subsidise English footbal.
Like to thank Joe for keeping me informed of the crap that Sky still put out.
The SS in Scotland ..notice how it even had its decent cameras and filters set up and used to cover the Ibroxland game yesterday ? Crystal clear coverage ! Not the finest which it uses for the english games , I’ll grant you ..but almost ! Have you also noticed how Ms Barbour always , always gives big fake Kris Boyd Carte Blanche to spout out any rants that his tiny mind concocts up ? Never a ticking off ..or a warning about his language as a paid alleged ‘ neutral ‘ mouthpiece during his vein popping speeches to the converted die hards . She just sits there with the sympathetic eyes , almost afraid to intervene during any diatribe from the figure of fun . The good old Sky Sports in Scotland..always toeing the Govanlandia line !
I agree, at times it frustrates me when they allow the rants to just go on unchallenged. Especially when he makes his bold claims about the ibrox clubs stature in the country. But I don’t think they allow him to do it agreeing with him or sympathising. In this day & age of clickbait content on social media he is the white whale of Scottish football. He creates so much traction from every support because it is laughable & now I think presenters are told to let him go.
I seem to remember a clip of him on the score panel & them all laughing their heads off at him because they were losing & he couldn’t hack it. I think he is not just the village idiot of Scottish football but the village idiot of Sky Sports also.
FUCK sky Sports (Scotland) – They ain’t getting one red cent outta me for sure !
