Celtic are reported to have had a formal bid to sign Nilson Angulo rejected by Anderlecht.

The report comes from a website in Ecuador where the 21-year-old is currently on international duty.

Angulo is described as a striker in the report but Transfermarkt lists him as a left winger, playing in 29 Jupiler League matches last season, scoring one goal and having two assists.

Those stats are nothing to get excited about but being a regular in the Anderlecht side is bound to draw attention, Celtic have been linked with Standard Liege left-winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha at various points over the last year.

Studio Futbol reports:

Nilson Angulo’s future could lie far from Belgium.

According to journalist César Luis Merlo for StudioFútbol, the Ecuadorian striker has sparked interest from several clubs in the European market, with Celtic Glasgow being the first to make a formal offer to buy him.

However, the offer was deemed insufficient by Anderlecht, the club that owns his rights. Despite the initial rejection, it has not been ruled out that the Scottish club or another team could make another attempt at the young striker.

Angulo, 21, started for the Ecuadorian national team in the recent draw against Brazil, and his strong form hasn’t gone unnoticed. He’s currently training with the Ecuadorian national team ahead of their next match against Peru in the Qualifiers.

Since arriving in Europe in 2022, the former Liga de Quito player has gained experience in the Jupiler Pro League, and could now take a new step in his career if any of the offers on the table materialize.

Angulo will be 22 next week and is under contract with Anderlecht until June 2027, during the 23/24 season he was a team-mate of Kasper Schmeichel.

Any other stories about bids that Celtic have had rejected, or missed out on?

    Pathetic.

If the guy’s supposed to be a striker yet can manage but 1 goal in 29 appearances and/or if he’s a left winger and can only manage 2 assists and 1 goal in those 29 games then what the fukk are we playing at here?
Why are proven footballers ALWAYS so thin on the ground when we go ‘shopping’.
We should turn it to ‘shipping’ and ship out Lawwell 1st and foremost, his stench is all over those mentioned so far and the whole fukkin board should follow.
Why was Dom McKay removed so quickly when he seemed to start so well?
I’d bet my house that the fat slug Lawwell’s filthy ‘old firm’ (deceased) paws are all over that too.
Man, I fukkin hate that piece of shit and rightly so! The antithesis of a Celtic FC supporter.

Hold ma fuckin beer,Tic Toc !
I have been saying EXACTLY the same as what you have just said for well over a decade.
If they even think about building a statue to that cunt they better factor in 24 hour security teams to guard the fuckin thing because there’s 1000’s of Celtic fans like us who detest and despise the fat parasitic bastard.
He’s one lucky guy it wasn’t me he told to calm down over a year ago outside St Mirren’s stadium.
He’d have been walking bolt upright for months while they figured out a way to remove his golf umbrella from his asshole !
I have more time for Dave King and he’s lower than a rattlesnake’s belly.

Brilliant “Balloon Heid” and what a moniker, a real belter.
I’ve been calling Lawwell out for well over a decade too as it’s been crystal clear he’s a flea on Celtic FC’s back whilst rewarding himself in the most disgusting, exaggerated manner. I’ve just put on another Tim site that I hope they leave “a fukkin big hole for the board” before replacing the ‘sods’ at CP or at the very least a big enough hole for that fat slug. He should NEVER have been able to wriggle back into CP though it’s very likely it was all arranged beforehand and he never really left. And what about his glove-puppet?
A PLC being run like a wee family business and it’s against all good business practice but not enough will take action so wage-thieves and muppets carry on regardless.
        Hail! Hail! Sack the board!

Celtic low ball and fail to sign a player isn’t news anymore.
We either put in unserious offers and miss out or we break our transfer record on a player that no one can work out what his role is.

Please find a proven defensive midfield enforcer, a Centre Half, a Creative mid and a Striker.
Set the price we are willing to pay for each, identify the target and pay the price needed to get them in.

All these scatter shot attempts to sign players makes me wonder what the scouting team actually do.
They should have the targets identified, scouted and the money to get him in, all in place on the day the window opens.

They had 6 months to do their due diligence but every window we miss out on who we want, get someone we don’t need in the dying days of the window, not giving them any time to get used to their new team mates and playing style.

McGinn and Idah two perfect examples. Lawwell one fukkin disgrace.
Tried to be smart and lost Celtic-mad McGinn, the type of player we’ve been screaming out for then tried to be smart again with Idah and ended up paying way over the odds. You’re spot on about the scouting staff too but Lawwell is and has been for years the reason our transfer record involves so much dross.
BTW, I think Adam Idah has done really well at times in a set-up that doesn’t seem to suit him. We should be more adventurous up front and trust the players more than any system as it’s a dynamic game not fukkin subbuteo or whatever. In being adventurous I also include having a defence that can be trusted to defend, start moves off going FORWARD and not forward a yard then square, square back, it’s god-awful to watch and we’re no good at it anyway.

Big Pete will be looking for free postage n packing as well.
As much as I agree we shouldn’t be splurging money on players, PL has an unhealthy obsession with the trading model.
Sometimes u just gotta take a punt.

If the Board run true to form…This window will be another clusterfeck..Sorry..canny get interested.
