Record Sport is linking five players a day as the frenzy over a takeover and hunt for a new manager switches to transfer activity. Or lack of.

During the ‘takeover’ tale every issue at Leeds United was twisted in to being Ibrox related even to the extent of a £200m Leeds share issue would be the transfer kitty at Ibrox.

Every manager linked with the job was profiled to the nth degree, especially Dave Ancelotti when the successful candidate had been unemployed since before Christmas when a record of lost 13, drew two and won one became too embarrassing for Southampton to stick with.

Now the focus is on signing players. With two weeks to go until the start of pre-season training no-one has been added to last season’s serial losers.

Waiting on a club EGM to approve an influx of £20m, transfer activity is likely to be minimal with Martin expected to get a tune out of Ross McCausland, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Ben Davies.

Undeterred the Record has lots of names to excite their readers, almost as if Financial Sustainability Regulations don’t apply to a club that lost £17.2 m in season 23/24 with last season’s nightmare likely to incur a loss of around £25m.

Westerlo frontman Matija Frigan is being tracked by?Rangers?and we can reveal a move for Dor Turgeman remains on.

Russell Martin is only in the door at Ibrox but knows his squad will need a bit of revamp in order to compete on all fronts next season.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have pledged a £20million investment into helping Martin and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell in football department, and links with several players around Europe are already starting to swirl.

Record Sport revealed Rangers are in the hunt for £4 million-rated Israeli striker Turgeman. Despite reports in his homeland claiming an Ibrox bid had been rejected, talks are still ongoing with Maccabi Tel Aviv as Gers try to land the 21-year-old hit-man.

Record Sport also broke the news over the weekend that talks with Leicester City have begun over a potential deal for England international Conor Coady.

And no doubt Record Sport will come up with another half dozen new names today while their readers wait on Martin parading the first new signing of the Cavenagh regime.

Other than an open letter to supporters at the time of the ‘takeover’ nothing has been heard of Cavenagh, not even to in-house media.

Douglas Park has still to express his delight at being marginalised despite having a £13m loan in the troubled club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.
Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.
There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same more than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying every success for Scotland's Most Successful Club.

Any player who does due diligence and had a shred of intelligence wouldn’t go near them.
That’s something that never gets factored into the rumours.
Gotta laugh at the “ understands” “sources say” “linked with”…..this does all the heavy lifting for “ its all made up and I’m hoping to get lucky that one hits the mark or at the very least it validates the club status for the orcs”.

The rag daily Record employs a small Army of sport scoops in either Print or digital fashion …my last count was 10 – to primarily cover Scottish football ! The football season is on its Summer holidays and the tabloid kharsi roll is not ! It craves news stories and will do and say anything to look like it knows what it’s doing either in paper form or with screen tales …clickbait being the order of EVERY day ! Click ..click..click ..click ! Expect more BS from the Record up until the start of the new season … especially with theRangers , where the guesswork and conjecture and speculation will be on steroids in its ‘ reporting ? ‘
