A week after playing in the Scottish Cup Final Daizen Maeda has returned to his role of father and football fan.
For once the Celtic forward has been given a full summer off after being left out of the Japan squad since they have already qualified for next year’s World Cup Finals which will run from June 11 to July 19 across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Maeda enjoyed a spectacular season highlighted by 33 goals including four in the Champions League- goals which will have drawn the attention of some leading clubs on the continent.
As a striker or coming in off the left flank he now carries a real goal threat adding to his incredible industry which appears unmatched in European football.
After three and a half seasons at Celtic he has won four SPFL titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

Turning 28 in October with a contract that runs until June 2027 there is bound to be speculation over other clubs showing interest in Maeda.
Offers around £20m are bound to interest Celtic who have a clear policy for selling players regardless or circumstances as Kyogo’s move to Rennes in January demonstrated.
With Jota out injured until later this year there should be some hesitation over selling Maeda with Celtic involved in a Champions League Play Off towards the end of August.
Qualification for the Champions League can add around £50m to turnover, falling into the Europa League generates around half that figure.

I would offer him the best deal we can, he’s surely worth more than £20m to Celtic as he’ll probably be the difference in CL games and I don’t think we could properly replace him. Unless the player wants to leave, I’d offer him a new deal and wouldn’t entertain selling him. Ever.
We have other sellable assets that could generate good money and are much easier to replace.
