Dave King has attempted to reign in the expectations of Ibrox fans ahead of a summer spending spree under their new American based owners.
Since Friday’s press release every branch of the media has been drooling over the spending power the club will have at its disposal.
A £20m share issue planned from the June 23 EGM is apparently going straight into the transfer war-chest with more to follow on top of the funds that were already in place.
It is as if no-one has noticed the £17.2m loss during season 23/24 with around £25m of losses expected for the year that is completed at the end of this month.
Whether it is legacy media or fan media it has all been about the funds that the next manager will have to spend with Jordan Henderson, Jamie Vardy and Cristiano Ronaldo all believed to be joining Josh Mulligan and Lyall Cameron on board the Revolution!
King likes to release quotes to his favoured messengers for simultaneous publication, at 10.30pm on Sunday the Daily Record shared
I really do believe they’re the right people.
King previously really believed that Club 1872 were the right people as he tried to offload his shares.
Where I would caution is, they’re going to do it in a disciplined, stable manner. So if supporters have got a sense that all of a sudden they’re going to come in and spend vast amounts of money and have a team that runs away with the league next year and qualifies for Europe, I think that’s over-ambitious.
What we should start seeing is a coherent plan, to see better communication with supporters.
And they are coming in with a commitment not just to win a league title, but to make Rangers the dominant force in Scotland.
That is what this project is about. It’s not about winning one or two titles.
It’s about the next 10, 20 years and I think that’s why I’m excited about it, because I think they are the right people.
We know they’ve got the resources to do it. They will not waste the resources. They’re smart, clever business people.
They’ve done a great job with Leeds, if you look at the numbers. Things like the commercial revenue, I think they’ve quadrupled it over four or five years.
New Chairman Andrew Cavenagh has no connection or involvement in Leeds, nor have any of the three new Directors although Paraag Marathe the Leeds Chairman is now the vice-Chairman at Ibrox.
After three years in the EPL getting Leeds promoted back to that level after two season’s in The Championship is no Roy of the Rovers triumph against all odds.
They understand football. They understand all of the other things, the gaming side, the media side, all of the things that are important if you’re going to be a modern football club.
And if we’re going to continue to have to operate in the markets that we want to operate in and be successful in Europe we need that. That’s why I’m excited
With the club locked into long term commercial contracts such as with Umbro until 2030 there are only two realistic routes to generate greater funds- by playing in the Champions League or selling more than £30m worth of players each year.
Three qualifying rounds will have to be negotiated to reach the Champions League with the Play Off round being against Club Bruges or Benfica- or the club that knocked those clubs out.
Getting more than £6m for Nicky Raskin will be a good achievement- after selling five first team players for £810,000 last summer every buying club knows how desperate the Ibrox club is to cut their wage bill.

Well the £30 million players needing to be done in the trading of players with Diamonde on his way to Everton for that above price.
Another transfer FAKE NEWS story is of another 2 players to join Diamonde out the door.
The good auld daily sevco doing what they do best, licking the ARSE OFF the ibrox klub, pushing FAKE NEWS about £30 million players leaving ibrox.
Daily Sevco are Pathological Liars !
Two scoops from the same newspaper daily Record have £25 million pounds of a difference in cost of the share buyout . One has it at £100 million ..the other at £75 million . These two speculators are from the same news desk yet are allowed to spout out any old BS money figures which look good on paper . One of them is a disgraceful liar …maybe both of them . That’s what you get when there is no accountability at the tabloid rag where they both are employed as glorified typists !
They are all Sevco supporters, thats why its all Sevco orientated pish.
You know what its like talking to one of these bampots down the local or at work, well some, have a laptop and a sympathetic editor.
Sevco think that the Texas rangers are coming to the rescue they may find it’s the comencheroos
