Greg Taylor’s alleged move to PAOK may not be as cut and dried as some are suggesting.
Over the weekend a report from Greece claimed that terms had been agreed including the length of contract for the defender who is now a free agent.
From Instagram it seems that Taylor is enjoying a family holiday in Dubai with nothing to suggest that he has visited Greece to speak face to face with PAOK.
Coming from Inverclyde and having played for Kilmarnock and Celtic moving to Greece is a huge commitment in terms of his career and family life.
Casting doubt on the current status of that move Greek website SDNA reports:
NOTE: Google translate seems to have turned someone’s nickname into ‘the two headed man’:
While the Scots were expressing great optimism about the completion of Greg Taylor’s transfer to PAOK, the Dicefalos were keeping a low profile, and this is because the case had been “frozen” in recent days.
Greg Taylor had previously seemed like PAOK’s “chosen one” to strengthen the left wing of the defense, and the Two-Headed Man had advanced negotiations with the Scot, who had had a 2+1 year offer in his hands for days.
At first, the proposal of the Two-Headed seemed to cover the 27-year-old left-back, who asked for a few days to weigh all the facts and decide together with his family. Until today, the Scottish media brought him to the door of PAOK, talking about final developments on Tuesday (10/6), realizing that the case is progressing smoothly and the Thessaloniki team is covering Taylor’s “wants”…
According to SDNA information , however, there has been no progress in this case in recent days. In fact, it seems to have “frozen” and given that time is not on PAOK’s side, it makes sense for the people of Thessaloniki to look at other cases…
Until he signs somewhere else the door probably remains open for Taylor to sign a new deal at Celtic, there has been little reported in the way of signing another left-back.
Kieran Tierney has signed up as a free agent but getting a reliable deputy could be a tough task with Taylor not yet eliminated as an option.
There is NO WAY we should consider keeping Taylor.
His “head” is away already and if he wanted to stay he would already have done so.
He is NOT committed to Celtic.
We already have let go Alex Valle who was much better than Taylor and Also Schlupp, who, although older, was still impressive. Celtic need to up the ante here as I believe Keiran will only be able to play for limited time periods. The LB position, like all the others, should be consider rotational for a couple of players and Taylor should not be one of them IMHO. There are other LS’s available to us, just go and get one.
Valle n Sclupp were just in the same mould as Taylor, no better no worse if all on their game, all capable of good showings or mistakes.
Ive no idea why some fans have been so down on Taylor, he gave everything he had every time he took to the pitch, we could do much worse than have him as a back up but he probably wants to play every week, which I would too tbh.
LB’s
Wouldn’t be the end of the world if Greg signed another deal with us.Recently married with a new baby,it might be something he is considering.Good solid back up for KT who Rodgers may also play at left centre back,on occasions.
So Greig has took The Boak with Poak !!!!
