Hamza Igamane is set to return to Murray Park with his dream move in tatters.
In midweek it was revealed that the Moroccan striker had agreed terms with Lille on a three year contract that would have more than quadrupled his wages.
Igamane is trapped on a contract that runs until 2029 knowing that it takes him a month to earn what Cyriel Dessers collects in a week.
After reading that he was the most exciting young striker in world football Igamane’s agents negotiated a deal with Lille with interest from other French clubs.
Leaking the news to a Belgian reporter backfired spectacularly with the Scottish messengers quickly discussing whether the fee would be £15m or £20m!
A fee of around £4m would have been decent business all round for someone that started just 29 of the 59 matches played last season by the second best team in Scotland.
Rather than let the story run out of control the Ibrox PR team have stepped in with the Daily Record stepping in:
Lille are ready to switch their sights to fresh targets after getting cold feet over the megabucks fee Rangers are demanding for Hamza Igamane.
It emerged this week that the Moroccan kid had shot to the top of the Ligue 1 giants’ summer wish list.
Mastiffs chiefs even held talks with his agent and agreed terms on a lucrative three-year contract.
But despite 48 hours of intense speculation, Ibrox bosses are still waiting to receive an official approach from their French counterparts.
Now sources close to the club have told Record Sport that Lille’s board have been spooked by talk of a £15million valuation slapped on a player Gers signed for just £1.7m only a year ago.
Unless the Light Blues’ new American owners decide to lower their price tag, it looks like Lille will take their business elsewhere.
After one week of pre-season training only Lyall Cameron and Max Aarons have been added to Russell Martin’s squad.
None of the deadwood has been moved on although Dessers, Igamane and Robin Propper have deals in place elsewhere with the buying clubs just waiting for the transfer fees to hit the floor.

Is there a deadline date for transfer business Editor ? Also why do I need to enter my details every time ?…I have ticked the box…Cheers.
Don’t understand this:
“…Mastiffs chiefs even held talks with his agent and agreed terms on a lucrative three-year contract.
But despite 48 hours of intense speculation, Ibrox bosses are still waiting to receive an official approach from their French counterparts…”
If Igamane has 4 years left on his contract,
is it not a requirement for an interested buying club to obtain permission from the selling club,
BEFORE approaching the player (and his agent) ? Otherwise it’s deemed ‘tapping up’ and punishable by the footy authorities?
Or, have the rules changed?
Tapping up that’s perfect how to describe that as the ibrox klub have done more TAPPING up than a blind man’s stick.
This will perhaps delay Shankland’s arrival !
19:00 BST 1 September, for EPL EFL and Scottish Premiership. Joe can correct
if I’m wrong.
Hamza’s 12 goals in 33 games is fairly good for a young 22 year old centre-forward, when minutes played are factored in. He should be kept for another season.
Editor: But he’s not at Simon Murray levels yet.
Thanks John…
Very good point about Simon Murray…some players just go under the radar…I think he’s a very good player who deserves a break…and thanks for fixing problem.
According to Gav over at the daily Record , young Igamane was about to smash the Ibroxland transfer record by signing for Lille ? Oh and in the process that would destroy Lille’s transfer record too …a twofer ! If he’s ‘ bunging ‘ a ‘ deep throat ‘ type of dude for his hush – hush intelligence and information… he’s being ‘ duped ! ‘ The Gav’nor !
