With transfer business, incoming and outgoing, stalling the Ibrox news cycle has returned to Metinho.
The 22-year-old belongs to French club Troyes who are looking to cut their losses with the Brazilian ace out of contract in 12 months time.
Metinho started last season at Sparta Rotterdam where he made 12 league appearances, in January he switched to Basel where he made another dozen appearances.
It all smacks of journeyman but a move to Ibrox would soon dust down the samba superstar tags based on one training session that Metinho had with the Brazilian u-16 team before being discarded.
Late on Sunday night The Sun reported:
Troyes are willing to do business for Metinho, who signed for them from Fluminense for £4million in 2021.
The midfielder has spent the last three seasons out on loan, twice in Holland with Lommel and Sparta Rotterdam, before moving to Switzerland in January.
It was at Basel he really flourished and they are desperate to get a deal done to keep him on a permanent basis.
But Rangers have long had him marked out as a summer target so hope to get a deal over the line ahead of them.
Russell Martin starts week two of pre-season training today with only Lyall Cameron and Max Arrons added tolast season’s serial losers.
Three weeks tomorrow Panathinaikos visit Ibrox in a Champions League qualifier, time is rapidly running out for new signings to arrive, get themselves fit and take on board Martin’s exciting style of play which delivered five EPL points from 16 matches before the hipster was sacked with Southampton doomed to a return to the Championship.
At the age of 22 Metinho has already played for five clubs in four countries.

5 clubs in 4 countries?
So if he does go to the tribute act it’ll be 7 clubs in 5 then (;-0)

He’s probably a lovechild of the great Pele and go to sevco and become £100 million player they will sell.
