Thousands of Ibrox shareholders look like being left with worthless share certificates if Andrew Cavenagh’s plan to take the club into private ownership goes through at an EGM on June 23.

Since start up in the summer of 2012 under Charles Green there has been three share issues aimed at supporters with the initial one on December 2012 pricing shares at 70p after Green, Mike Ashley and Ally McCoist bought their shares for one penny a few months earlier.

Last week a press release claimed that Cavenagh and his consortium had obtained 51% of the shares in the club although virtually no detail was given.

Companies House has still not updated for that or the sacking of three directors while three new directors were named with Cavenagh becoming Chairman.

Normally such an action would require an offer being made to other shareholders at the same price but the rush to push this deal through has come with virtually no scrutiny.

King and the three bears fell foul of Rule 9 with the Takeover Panel in 2015 but it was two years before action was taken with the South African based businessman cold shouldered.

That wouldn’t impact on Cavenagh while he controls the club from abroad, there has barely been any discussion on the reasons for taking the club private, most attention has been on how much of the mythical £20m investment will be spent on players.

Club 1872 and Sandy Easdale seem to be the biggest shareholders that have been left out of whatever offer has been made so far by Cavenagh’s consortium.

Other than a press release and email to fans nothing has been heard of Cavenagh, not even an interview with the club’s in-house media team.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

It’s behind a feckin paywall and I won’t pay the lying cheating, Liquidation denying, Unionist rag a penny.
They will carry this story today yet still maintain the ‘ Survival’ lie tomorrow.

  • Bhoy4life says:

It really doesn’t matter whether it’s liquidation, a takeover, a new mgr, a new player, a win, a loss…absolutely everything about that club is rank rotten from top to bottom.
It is a pox on the game here.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I honestly wouldn’t have the slightest clue about the way shares work…

But glad to be kept up as best as I can understand on Video Celts for sure…

One thing’s for sure – It’ll be major DISHONESTY involving Sevco for sure !!!

  • Bob (original) says:

Yes, this lack of public engagement with the support is rather telling?

Cavenagh and co. just don’t want to be questioned – on anything?

Whatever happens, you just know that at the end,

the bears will be foaming at the mouth in rage.

    Yet again! ?

  • Terence Nova says:

Surely a team from the Daily Rectum or the Scottish Hun Sun…are on standby to conduct a forensic and no holds barred investigation into the current set up at Sevco ?….I will be very surprised if , by this time next week, we are not fully up to speed with everything concerning the takeover…thanks to these impartial, and hard hitting, journalists…..Sorry…need tae go…ma meds have arrived.

The lying King and John Bennett were the only 2 mentioned to sell their confetti paperwork by the compliant nodding dogs SMSM ! I doubt that their shares would total 51% to be ‘ boss making ? ‘ It’s all as clear as Guinness..or a pirate’s conscience !

  • Charlie Green says:

I can’t see Park getting his money if he hasn’t sold his shares already. Would be too scared to complain.

Didn’t the Easdales offer the money gratis?

It seems the so called “Real Rangers” men are the ones getting shafted.

They may already have been told there are benefits in converting their RIFC shares into membership shares of the Consortium? The major owners will need a big City Hall to hold the attendees. There will be a lot of questions, if they allow them. Joe, get your questions ready.
Look forward to your report. I know nothing about this stuff.

Where is Neil Patey when you need him?
Actually David Low has done a very good job in explaining – when King and the three bears took over back in 2015 they had to make the same offer to ALL shareholders. This is now no longer the case and it looks like a lot of people with a small amount of shares will get nothing (apart from shafted). Good article on JJ site about it.

That scum bag response to David Low ” taig” utter poisonous good for nothing like creatures! Weirdo to boot, I truly detest our Great Club having to play any club from that cespit of hate a breeding ground of haterd, sectarianism and racism. They can’t help themselves in brigadoon Scotland they are allowed their anti social sickness shame on that country , trust me when they leave most drop the ” rainherz” like a bad habit seen it first hand in Australia cause introspectovely they realise their sick ways won’t be tolerated! Hence they are merely a west of Scotland club built on hate and poiso. Even their own director Hugh Adam told them so in 2002! Fact
