With Celtic tasting more success in the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership campaign, and also enjoying some very good European nights again as we almost reached the knockout stages in the revamped Champions League campaign, it is now all eyes to the 2025/26 season and manager Brendan Rodgers has already taken advantage of the summer transfer window now being open to refresh his first team squad.
With us already seeing the return of Kieran Tierney to Parkhead, we have also made moves for Morton’s Isaac English, and Aberdeen’s Ross Doohan, but this weekend we added 23 year old FC Nordsjaelland talent, Benjamin Nygren, to the list. Fans who like a flutter will be watching transfer odds, but for those who prefer online gaming the likes of ausscasinosanalyzer will be taking their interest until we finally get to this season’s big kick off.
We have reportedly sealed the wide attackers capture with a £2 million fee and he becomes our newest signing of the summer having put pen to paper on a five year deal at the Celtic Park. The player first came through the youth ranks of IFK Goteborg, before spending time with Genk and Heerenveen, and he only made the switch to Nordsjaelland in January 2022, however, he quickly hit the ground running and was impressive, and he was rewarded with is first Swedish international cap back in the March window.
Across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, he scored 16 club goals, and having opened his account for his country in his second match, he now has two goals in four games for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side.
Speaking to Celtic TV as his contract was announced, the player was clearly excited to be with us and described himself as the kind of attacker who likes being the link between defence and attack and that he is just as happy to create chances, as he is to score them himself.
With a total of 35 goals in 107 appearances for the Danish side, and boasting just over 200 career appearances despite his young age, it looks like we have picked him up at the perfect time for him to really make an impact for us, and for his potential transfer value to really rocket if he continues to develop in the way that many in the wider world of football think he will.
The gaffer is clearly happy with the signing, and he sounds very confident indeed that he will add good quality to our existing attacking options, stating “…he’s a young player who’s already gained plenty of experience at club level, while his impressive performances last season also saw him gain his first caps for Sweden.” It is not just international experience he brings with him now, he already has Europa Conference League games under his belt and he has worn the skippers armband in a number of matches as well, so that should play in his favour as he looks to adjust to the challenges that we have ahead of ourselves.
Although he could only help his former side finish in fifth place in the Danish SuperLeague last season, after a three a half year spell with them, he leaves as their fourth highest scoring player in their entire history, so the potential is clearly there for him to get even better.
It will be interesting to see how he fits in and just how quickly he can begin contributing to what we all hope will be another successful title defence campaign.
