Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is expected in Glasgow on Friday to complete a loan move to Celtic.

That is the tea-time update from Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports ahead of Celtic’s SPFL Premiership opener against St Mirren.

After losing 5-1 to Ajax last Thursday Brendan Rodgers questioned the ambition of Celtic, it appears that the loan move for Simpson-Pusey is the response from inside the club.

Should the move be completed on Friday it would be a bit of a push to involve the new defender in Sunday’s match against St Mirren.

After that Celtic have a week to prepare for a trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen in one of the most demanding fixtures of the season before the build up begins towards the Champions League Play Off on August 19/20 and 26/27.

Brendan Rodgers will be looking to integrate JSP into his squad as quickly as possible but with high stakes involved he’ll have to be careful but Manchester City are clearly sending the defender out on loan to rack up first team football.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

No.harm to the boy, but … wtaf? Is he what the team needs right now? The board are pissing on our heads and not even bothering to claim it’s raining.

  • Terence Nova says:

Good luck to the boy…hope he does well for us….But…SERIOUSLY…. that’s regarded as a priority ??… Beam me up Scotty.

No bad players on the periphery of City’s first team.
City won’t be sending him up here to play in the B Team either. Maybe a clause on game time. With CCV prone to time out and the trusty / scales axis maybe not completely to BRs liking let’s see what the boy will bring. Was talk of £20m for him, its the only way to access this level of the msrket. Keep the relationship with city warm, others may well follow.

So one for the road ,we are now just a team to help bigger teams to develop one of there youth players,is that all you see Celtic as ,Man city Wer fuck all before the big sky money come in,but if you’re happy for Celtic to take one of their young players and make him better, then he goes back to his parent club wtf does that make us look like,no wonder the English call us a Mickey mouse league,a feeder league for English players, you have no idea, you should have none for the road,in fact forget the road.

    how is it, ?

we won 5-1 last time we bothered going up there

    • Jim Duffy says:

Apart from the fact they beat us in the cup final, wtf are you saint wtf you are,we are nowhere near as good as you think we are , sevco taught us a lesson or 2 last season, they are probably better prepared now, last season if the hadn’t a fucked up against lesser teams in our diddly league they would have won the league,so write them off at your ignorant peril.

  • saint stivs says:

hardest fixtures of the season, it is not 1980s aberdeen.

we beat them 5-1 last time, havnt lost there in 10 years or something like that.

  • Jim Duffy says:

Saint stiv, you better prepare to be proved wrong, you come on here and blithely state we will win the league?I think a little humility and common sense should kick in here, last season we according to statistics better players, manager etc should have hammered them, well how did that work out, Clement and Ferguson fucked us over,so as it looks at present our team isn’t any stronger in fact it’s weaker so how are we going to compete against a sevco team that looks stronger.

  • Dando says:

“A Sevco team that looks stronger” ?????

Lay aff the early morning Buckie Jim…….
