Barry Ferguson has experienced plenty of lows in his career- as a manager there were crushing defeats at Clyde and Alloa, arguing with Alloa fans in the stand away to Dumbarton then the humiliation of being mutually consented with a record of 10 wins, 8 draws, and 16 wins.
More recently he slipped into the brogues and blazer, replacing Phil Clement and extending a run without a home win at Ibrox to seven matches, four months.
Between the two men Queens Park, St Mirren, Motherwell and Hibs all celebrated wins at Ibrox.
Despite campaigning through his four months as interim manager to get the job on a permanent basis the Ibrox bosses resisted the obvious move, the day after finishing the season with a 2-2 draw away to Hibs Ferguson was told ‘thanks, but no thanks’.
Being staunch Ferguson won’t continue his management career elsewhere, he is resuming his Ambassador role and is now stepping up his media career.

4 minutes 20 Jackson: I really enjoyed your column last week, I loved reading it.
Ferguson: You know what its like when I explained to you last week
15 minutes Jackson: He (Ferguson) is a deep thinker.
Some cynics believe that the multi award winning Jackson applies his wordsmith talents to transfer the thoughts of Fergie onto the pages of the Record.
As well as his weekly column in the Record Fergie will make a weekly appearance on the Hotline Live, the Record’s attempt to join the digital age.
Last night’s episode drew in 4,500 viewers, in contrast Celtic AM produced from Hamish Carton in Austria attracted 11.000 viewers, broadcast at lunchtime ACSOM has so far been watched 10,600 times.
With print sales at 40,000 during June the Hotline Live has someway to go to becoming a money spinner capable of supporting the trips that the Record are spending money on with two reporters currently in Athens after they sent two out to cover Celtic’s two recent friendlies in Portugal.
Are you happy with Celtic's transfer activity
Absolutely- fantastic business
I will judge on September 1
Horrific- feels like 2023 again

Great stuff as always Joe.
He came to parkhead and won in what was supposed to be a walk over then got a draw at ibrox it pains me to say he was undefeated against us surely a wake up call about how we approach these games.
I don’t have any time or even praise for wee Ferguson but he had Ted sussed out on how to play against his set up,but maybe not other teams or managers, but he definitely sussed us out.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back if it doesn’t go to plan with the new manager.
Signing your dough over to the Mrs to avoid Hector was an easy decision to make …wintit ?
……a record of 10 wins, 8 draws, and 16 wins.
Listen, to salvage some self respect from having to work on the Daily Record and Hotline Live, there might be an opening during the festive season for someone of Barry’s stature, it will at least increase his income and restore some lost pride. It’s also the type of token “what’s the point” ambassador role given to him at Ibrox. With his experience at pretence why not apply to become an elf? He’d easily fit into the diminutive costume and have plenty of headroom in Santa’s small compact Blue Room Grotto. Who could doubt the existence of Santa Claus and Rangers Football Club PLC when both have a connection to staunch Barry. The visiting crowd of junior Billy Boys can also expect to receive a special remembrance gift from Father Whyte Christmas costing only £1, a signed copy of an official public document from Customs House, showing that The Rangers Football Club PLC, which was incorporated in 1899, were legally dissolved on 17 October 2024.
