Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic TV that the club needs to sign forwards to plug the gaps in his squad.
Since the turn of the year Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn have been sold, with Jota facing a long term injury options have been significantly reduced with a heavy reliance on Daizen Maeda on both the left-wing and as a striker.
So far Callum Osmond and Shin Yamada have been signed but neither are expected to be close to the Starting XI when the SPFL season begins in 10 days at home to St Mirren.
Yesterday Rodgers faced an audience of mainly Italian reporters at a media conference to preview the Como Cup and tonight’s match against Ajax.
Most of the questions were about Como but the final question was directed at Celtic’s transfer activity.

Fabregas (Cesc, manager of Como) mentioned yesterday in conversation that he had completed 90% of his transfer business, would you put a similar number on your activities this window?
RODGERS:
No. I think that we still have some work to do, I think that the players that we have in the building have been very very good, in this pre-season so far.
But like I say we still have work to do in the market. I think that it is very clear where our gaps are in our front line where we need support and I’m very confident that we’ll be able to do that before the market finishes.
It seems that a separate media conference was held for Scottish newspapers with The Sun and Daily Record going in much deeper on Celtic’s transfer plans and policies.
In the one-to-one interview for Celtic TV there was no reference to transfer activity.
I’m not sure I understand our signing policy…Does BR make all the decisions…or are certain players ” forced ” upon him ?? His comments re. SHIN FAIN sounded like it had nothing to do with him…Strange one .

Spot on ,Board out , liewell and his bunch of chancers and I likewise think that if your on 3 million a year like Rodgers why would you rock the boat, it’s fu**ing obvious what’s going on with desmond liewell and Rodgers, they wheel out Rodgers every transfer window and he says the same old pish, ie what he thinks will placate the fans.
I pay for celtic tv and cant be arsed to watch the content as everyone tries so hard to be ever so politcally correct.

When BR re-joined, he was in a very strong position to dictate his transfer targets.
However, he didn’t [as far as we know] and he was left with PL son’s transfers-in,
who have now mostly gone / are going?
Again, in his final contract year BR is in a strong negotiating position to dictate his preferred transfers-in, [prior to extending his contract?]
Who would blame him if he walked away because PL simply refused to comply?
…unless BR prefers to just keep his head down – and not rock the boat – and see out his last year and then go…?
Looks like we’re all going to be disappointed – again – this window. 🙁
