Celtic linked with giant French defender Etienne Youte

Celtic have been credit with an interest in signing Etienne Youte of Le Havre.

Besiktas and Anderlecht have also been named in a Turkish report which claims that L’equipe is the original source of the story.

Youte is a 6 foot 4 left sided central defender, although Auston Trusty and Liam Scales competed for that position last season most fans would agree that it is a position that could be strengthened.

Ideally Celtic are looking for the left-sided equivalent of Cameron Carter-Vickers, a task that has been on-going for four years.

Youte started his career with the Inter Milan Academy but moved to Le Havre two seasons ago for £250,000, entering the final year of his contract it is reported that an offer of 5m euros will secure his transfer this summer.

Under contract until 2026 with Le Havre, Étienne Youté could soon leave the club. The 23-year-old central defender arouses covetous from several European teams. Arrived in Normandy in January 2023, the slender player won his place as a starter from November of the same year. After a successful first year in Ligue 1, the former Inter Milan and Olympiakos is coming out of a more difficult season on a personal level, which has not curbed the ardor of several courtiers.

Yesterday Celtic were linked with a move for Justin de Haas of Portuguese side Familicao, like Youte he is entering the final year of his contract.

Youte has one u-21 cap for France and six at u-17 level.
