Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is on his way to joining Celtic on loan.
The most followed account in the transfer business rarely gets it wrong with this sort of story, confirming what has been speculated on over the last few days.
The deal for Simpson-Pusey isn’t expected to have an option to buy but with a price tag of around £20m it is highly unlikely that Celtic could afford the fee and wages.

During the final pre-season matches Brendan Rodgers was trying out Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Dane Murray in different central defensive combinations.
Simpson-Pusey will have to be assessed in competitive matches with August providing Celtic with six or seven highly demanding challenges.
There are three domestic matches before the Champions League Play Off ties on August 19/20 and 26/27 with Celtic having the option to call of the scheduled SPFL match against Livingston on the Saturday in-between.
The month ends at Ibrox on August 31 followed by an international break giving signings that come in at this stage very little scope to bed in to a new system of playing.

Ludicrous CHEAP OPTION Signing! If he’s crap he’s no getting a game & he’s left out in the Wilderness like Lagerbielke & Nawrocki! If he’s good we canny afford him..Fukin NONESENSE fae this Joke of a Board! We lose in CL Qualifier & then tae Huns & Rodgers is OFFSKI..GUARANTEED!!
For the life of me I cannot see any rationale behind this signing. We do little to develop our own potential but now we are providing a development opportunity to a player we will never own nor benefit from? This to me seems to be somebody sending out a message or messages ie we will decide on players and we will get them as cheaply as we can. This with the two Japanese guys and the Breum embarrassment is to me a public slight on the manager and potentially his judgement. Maybe whoever is drumming up these recruits fancies themselves better than an elite football manager. There is now no doubt BR is leaving. Will give it a week and see if BR’s comments today come to fruition ie that the new signings will be here hopefully this week. If so I will happily eat humble pie, provided they are not of this calibre
Who the f**k let Mark Lawwell back in the building?
The Club goes from one embarrassment to another.
Failure of planning
Failure of ambition
Failure of imagination
Failure of diversity
The Board are just a collective failure!
Get both Lawwell’s to f**k, and they can take that complete incompetent of a CEO with them!
If DD has the clout to hire BR (twice) then why’s he not doing some serious arse kicking at board level to spend some money and get 1st team starters signed?
Cue next summers scramble for a new manager whilst still putting in low ball offers for players,it’s almost as if we’re trying to invite Cheatco back to the top table.
Exactly, I’m surprised DD hasn’t at least some understanding of the frustration from fans, manager and likely some youth players.
Dane Murray was tried out pre-season. Is he not good enough at back-up that we have to go to City group to develop one of their players? Whilst we have to start afresh in defence next season.
All the cheap buys, low ball offers, it’s embarrassing but three things stand out:
Are we buying cheap players because BR is leaving at the end of his contract and they’re “waiting” for a new manager to come in before buying bigger? That would likely depend on if the new manager is a yes man or comes in with an expectation of being supported with transfers
Do the board not realise it isn’t covid season and if enough fans are annoyed (especially if Europe shows us up for not replacing first team players), then their incompetence will be called out, publicly embarrassing them? They are deluded!
Why do we never promote any of our youth players? Murray, Anderson, Turley, so many that get a sniff in pre-season or when we’re decimated with injuries then straight back to B team and eventually, leave for another team. Why can’t we develop our young lads more? That’s my only real gripe with BR. I’ve never seen him promote a youth player and give him a run in the 1st team.
Obviously I hope we do better in Europe than we might do, if we get in more players. But even that is annoying as we should have had them in already, so the squad can gel in pre-season. We’ve won the league, we’ll probably win one of the cups but surely it’s worth a punt on players we absolutely need, to do better in Europe…….
I hope things will all work out but you can only go on hard evidence and so far we haven’t bought the wingers we need or an established striker. I’d settle for Daizen through the middle but only if we have 2 top wingers on each flank
Get get a loan deal for a Man City player that’ll keep them happy
Just taking this piss they’re taking everyone one of us for mugs
They’ll have done a deal with Ange that’ll keep our fat mouths shut. The board are a JOKE! No wonder BR will leave!
They’ve been doing that for a long time Harold. I
They’ve been doing that for a long time Harold.
Proves this elite manager can’t pick a feckin player from th thousands out there , we’ve to go with the safe loan deal from city group Lawell knows so well
same shite every year except the targets become less and less
Rodgers is offski end of the season that’s clear from this ridiculous development
This is why young players are leaving at the first sniff of a contract elsewhere, developing another club’s talent for them whilst our own potential pick skelfs out their arse on the bench or are condemned to the Lowland League. Still, maybe we’ll get a cut of any future transfer fee from City – you know, like the one Sevco got from the Germans?
Is this our club’s 2025 version of a ‘Wili Flood’ ?
Although, we are not buying but it is another body added to the squad.
This 19 year old could be a great player for us [like Denayer if I remember correctly?]
Not sure how loans of development players works – but is BR then obligated to play him so many times in the season…?
Looks like a decent loan – but at totally the wrong time?
Tone deaf from the Board, as per… 🙁
We let them do this to us. That’s why they continue to do it. Blind loyalty is not the way forward. The fans are owed something for their loyalty but it should come at a prices. This lot are taking the piss!
Hit them where it hurts! Look after your families, spend your money on them and don’t buy the official club merchandise! There are other sources.
Make your feelings known at Celtic Park, before the game, at half time and at full time, but don’t affect the players during the match.
Rodgers off at season end – possibly Maloney takes over (or another old Bhoy).
Basically, this is NOT THE CLUB we began to support years ago. That club has gone. We are left with a business run by Tories.
Welcome to Celtic young man, hears to a successful season at the trophy hoovering champions of Scotland.
HH
maloney will not be the next celtic manager, what a daft leap in thinking that is.
