Robin Propper is negotiating a pay off for the remainder of his Ibrox contract.
A year ago the Dutch defender was signed in a £2m deal to replace Connor Goldson after he accepted a pay off to join Cypriot giants ARIS, the fifth biggest club on the island.
Phil Clement incredibly discovered a get out clause that allowed the Twente skipper to leave for a knockdown fee of £2m.
Without international recognition at any level or playing in any UEFA competitions Propper scored an own goal on his debut then lost to Dinamo Kiev and Celtic as the season fell apart for the Belgian Beale and his exciting young team.
Things didn’t get much better under Barry Ferguson, likewise Russell Martin isn’t a fan but with his contract running until May 2026 Propper won’t be jumping at a pay cut when he can sit things out for the remainder of his Ibrox wages.
Discussing the week ahead at FC Twente, local publisher Tubantia reveals:
And when will Robin Propper show up? Propper and his management are in negotiations with Rangers FC. The club wants to get rid of him, but Propper still has a running contract. So that has to be compensated for somehow, that’s the point of the talks.
Propper and his agents are following the template set last summer when five first team players left for combined fees of £810,000.
The usual suspects discussed fees of £2m for Sam Lammers and £1.5m for Goldson but alongwith Todd Cantwell, Scott Wright and Robbie McCrorie they left for less than half of the fee that Celtic collected for Bosun Lawal.
Ben Davies, Rabbi Matondo, Jose Cifuentes and Kieran Dowell are all in the same situation as Propper as they sit tight waiting on the sweetener to move on to the next stage in their footballing journeys.
Nothing worry about with players looking fir playoffs sevco have loadsadosh. They are in the process of signing Miller from Motherwell fir a substantial fee at least £8 million bang bangs so sais wee Coco the klown at ibrox noise.
Then you have Wolves in the process of getting ready to sign Ronaldo Raskin for mega-bucks as well again wee Coco at his best.
Do you think the SMSM will ‘ give it large ‘ in their condemnation of Propper for causing the ‘ establishment ‘ grief by his spoiled brat tantrum of ‘ digging in ‘ for a payout ? Answers and explanations on the back of a postage stamp …..
We all don’t half like to laugh at these shenanigans across the city, but let’s not forget, we couldn’t beat this lot of loans n cheapos last season.
One thing they did have was heart n desire.
When’s the last time you watched us play with that? Especially against them.
The number of times I was screaming “ wake up ffs” at the telly last season as we just tippy tappied our way thru games expecting the ball to just roll into the net cos it looked nice.
We need grunt, we need BR to install some heart and desire into us.
Nicey nice football is all well n good when it works and your winning but when it doesn’t we guys in there who can take the game by the scruff of the neck and mix it a bit.
Calmac is a great player, gives it his all, runs his heart out, but anyone else think he just doesn’t have the gravitas that Broony did?
Is he really leader material when ur in the trenches?
I know this will maybe irk a few but just an opinion, Broony had respect in the tunnel in the line up, nobody fucked wi him, I just don’t think Calmac has the same aura.
But I suppose who else is there at the end of the day.
Its something thats been missing in the team for a while now, real grunt.
We did when it mattered
Mind when they signed this guy he got the exact same media hype up all their new signings are getting now
