Two years after joining Celtic Kwon Hyeok-kyu has departed Celtic with an apology to supporters.

The midfielder has joined Nantes after failing to make a single appearance for Celtic, fans of St Mirren and Hibs will know more about the 24-year-old after loans spells within the SPFL Premiership.

Kwon was up against it from the moment that he joined Celtic, fans were dubious that someone from the Korean Second Division could make an impact on their club, being signed soon after Aaron Mooy retired never helped.

While compatriot Yang Hyun-jun went on to become a fringe member of Brendan Rodgers’ squad the door never opened to Kwon.

Surprisingly Nantes have picked up something from those spells at St Mirren and Hibs, French clubs of that size tend to do their homework before signing anyone.

After two puzzling years in Scotland Celtic fans will keep an eye out for Kwon to see if the hoops missed out on something as he takes his career to France.
